Jack Ryan 12 Year Old

  • Author: InebriatedOgre
  • Rating: 65/100
  • Review: “You get that lovely aroma of green apples immediately upon inhalation. Acidic green apple taste as well, with a bit of marzipan, followed by white pepper and smoke. Not bad by any means, albeit a bit one-note.”

Jameson Black Barrel

  • Author: JamaicanJack
  • Rating: 95/100
  • Review: “Damn good dram. On the nose it is full of flavors. Maybe not as deep or rich as other whiskies, but it is a great drink. Good value.”

Ledaig 10 Year Old

  • Author: NightOwl
  • Rating: 73/100
  • Review: “Smoke, smoke and more smoke. On pouring this whiskey you can immediately smell the smoke together with the more subtle peaty medicinal notes. Then you notice the sweet, toffee followed by hints of fruit. On taking a sip you are immediately hit with a lovely almost watery sweetness then the smoke quickly kicks in and never goes away whilst other flavours of oak, tar and fruit along with possibly a hint of sherry always with a background of peat and of course the smoke. It rather reminded me of a campfire. Towards the end I also detected liquorice coming through very clearly and also possibly a touch of pepper in the background. I noticed that the longer the whisky stood in the glass before my next sip the more subtle the smoke became. However it was always there and I found the very pleasant smoky aftertaste remained for some time. This is also a very (though not unpleasant) dry drink, leaving a rather unusual dryness to the mouth. All in all a pleasant and very interesting whisky that is far more complex than it first seems. It compares very favourably with the big Islay names in peat and smoke. Definitely worth a try.”

Mackmyra Svensk Rök

  • Author: CaptainBolitho
  • Rating: 85/100
  • Review: “Nose amazingly intense nose which made me cough. Once settled down pine cones, hints of peat, rich and fruity. Taste – Peat, and oranges. A very unusual whisky which I absolutely love. The first Mackmyra I would buy again.”

Old Forester 1920

  • Author: waynem37
  • Rating: 84/100
  • Review: “Can definitely smell the 115 proof. Beautiful legs on the glass, cherry and vanilla on the nose. The flavor is exactly what you would expect with a bourbon of this proof, pepper on the tongue, surprisingly smooth for the proof, one of the best Kentucky hugs I’ve had.”
