The Glenlivet is rebranding their Master Distiller’s Reserve range, which is sold exclusively in travel retail, as Triple Cask Matured. The old Master Distiller’s Reserve is now simply named Distiller’s Reserve, while Solera Vatted will be replaced by White Oak Reserve and Small Batch will be renamed as Rare Cask.
All of the Triple Cask Matured whiskies are influenced by three cask types, ex-Sherry, American oak and European oak, but in varying proportions.
Glenlivet Triple Cask Matured Distiller’s Reserve (40% abv, RRP €45 / $53 for a 1 litre bottle) is said to be “a harmonious balance of fruity notes and smoothness”.
Glenlivet Triple Cask Matured White Oak Reserve (40% abv, RRP €69 / $75 for a 1 litre bottle) uses a higher proportion of whisky from first fill American white oak casks, resulting in “sweet velvety taste with subtle, creamy coconut and vanilla notes”.
Glenlivet Triple Cask Matured Rare Cask (40% abv, RRP €100 / $115 for a 1 litre bottle) will be bottled and released in numbered small batches. A higher proportion of ex-Sherry casks is supposed to give this whisky “unrivalled richness in taste and depth of flavour”.
The Glenlivet will also launch a personalisation service, which gives consumers the option to add a personal message to any of the Glenlivet Triple Cask Matured bottles.
Laura Lung, marketing manager at Pernod Ricard Global Travel Retail, explains: “With The Glenlivet Triple Cask Flavour Discovery and our new personalisation service, we hope to have crafted a unique experience that will both help inspire consumers to discover which of The Glenlivet Triple Cask expressions is best matched to their taste preference, as well as provide a one-of-a-kind gift and treasured memory. It provides multiple opportunities to shop for different gifting occasions, from Father’s Day to birthdays and anniversaries.”
