With Summer fast approaching and Father’s Day right around the corner, many of you took to the Whisky Suggest app to update your wishlists. Whether it’s a new release or a classic dram, these are the 10 Most Wanted Whiskeys for June 2021. This list was determined by Whisky Suggest wishlist activity in the month of May.
Lagavulin 16 Year Old
Consistently one of the top rated and collected Islay scotches, no surprises here that the Lagavulin 16 tops the list. While obviously bringing the peat and smoke, many of you agree that the overall balance and complexity of flavors underneath are what make this a great dram!
Talisker 10 Year Old
Hailing from the Islands region of Scotland, the Talisker 10 can stand up with big boys of Islay when it comes to its peaty profile. A key difference often noted in reviews is the presence of salt water and sea air flavor notes, along with some strong fruit and pepper to cut through the smoke.
Ardbeg Uigeadail
Noticing a trend here. Another well-peated pour makes the 10 Most Wanted Whiskeys for June 2021 list. The highly popular Uigeadail expression sets itself apart from many other Ardbeg bottles with its sherry finish. This layers is a dark, fruity sweetness that rounds out all the smoke. It currently sits as the highest rated Ardbeg in the core range.
Redbreast 12 Year Old
The only departure from Scotland on the list, we don’t have to travel far to find the beloved Redbreast 12 Irish Whiskey. This sherry finished, Pot Still whiskey leans in on the sweet, vanilla, and fruity flavors and is an excellent smooth sipper.
Ardbeg Scorch
The latest release from Ardbeg has clearly already generated quite the buzz. The 2021 Committee Release is aged in heavily charred ex-bourbon barrels, the Scorch release aims to amp up the fiery smoke flavors even higher. If you have had a chance to get your hands on this one, let us know what you think in the comments below or by rating through the app.
Ardbeg 10 Year Old
From new to an old standby, you cannot go wrong with the classic Ardbeg 10 Yr. This standard of the Islay style serves as a consistent gateway to both the Ardbeg brand and the flavor profile of the region in general.
Dalmore 15 Year Old
The only Highlands scotch making the cut, this fifteen year old expression from the Dalmore is a solid dram. Reviewers note the blend orange, chocolate, and sherry flavors.
Ardbeg Corryvreckan
The fourth expression from Ardbeg to make the list this month, you have the terrifyingly delicious Corryvreckan. Coming in at a cask strength ABV, this is the more intense bigger brother of the standard 10 Yr.
Port Charlotte 10 Year Old
Another heavily peated dram coming in at number 9. The Port Charlotte 10 Year Old from Bruichladdich Distillery is yet another classic Islay scotch. This one tends to be described as more citrus forward than the Ardbeg lineup, giving it a distinctive profile all its own.
Bowmore 12 Year Old
You all are seriously loving your peat right now! Wrapping things up with our final bottle of the Most Wanted Whiskeys for June 2021, we have the Bowmore 12 Year Old. Bowmore is actually one of the oldest Scottish distilleries, and is currently owned and operated by Japanese whisky giant Suntory. This particular expression naturally has peat character, mixed with dried fruits and chocolate notes, and a peppery finish.
