About Highlands

In size, the Highlands region is the largest of the Scottish whisky producing regions. It basically contains the Northern half of the country, except for the Scottish islands and the region around the river Spey; Speyside.

Highlands whiskies are characterized by sweet, malty flavours. Most Highlands whiskies have delicate, honey-like notes and only a few distilleries offer bold, smoky or sherried whiskies.

Some of the most well-known Highlands whisky distilleries are Balblair, Dalmore, Glenmorangie, The Macallan, Oban and Tomatin.
