Every three days, a whisky review of one of the 50,000+ Whisky Suggest App users is selected as Featured Whisky Review. Today we’re sharing Smoky_Mitch90‘s tasting notes of Russell’s Reserve 10 Year Old.

Pretty good. Semi slow/ thick legs. Pleasing nose. Satisfying but not over powering burn. Sweet and spicy. Enjoyable finish. Personally I enjoyed neat no water or ice needed after a delicious cheeseburger fresh off the grill.

Nose

Definitely sweet/ brown sugar. Hint of acetone smell but I actually enjoyed that. I nosed this one over and over again.

Palate

I think there has to be rye in the mash bill. Spicy, sweet, to me just a hint of oak. So far I have enjoyed Scotch more than any other type of whiskey but this one surprised me.

Finish

Pleasant burn. Spicy, like rye turning more oaky/ bitter in a good way after several seconds – a minute after swallowing.

Score

82/100
