makkelijke whisky vanille beetje fruitig toppertje
Vanilla, hint of berries, malt, caramel, oak, white pepper, orange skins, honey, cinnamon, and a hint of floral.
Lots of vanilla, caramel, honey, and generally sweet with some wood, licorice, and tropical notes showing up occasionally. Overall, pretty tasty.

Honey and vanilla
greasy, fruity
Sweet Orange, sherry, honey. Lovely
This was quite a good one. A lot of sweetness on the nose, together with a little oak and sherry.
Palate is great, smooth vanilla guiding other subtle flavors like oak, fruits, sherry (and perhaps a little bit of spice?).
Not a strong finish, but a subtle one.
A lot of flavors dancing around in the mouth quite a long time afterwards.
It is a soft whisky, and a great idea for a gift!

Never tasted sherry before, but I might have an idea how that would taste after trying The Balvenie Doublewood... Honey, vanilla and... sweet. If you like that, this whiskey will be for you. But... I don't know. It's just too much 'sherry' for me. I'm having doubts on this one. I guess it's a matter of taste. Unfortunately, not my taste. Still a decent rating because I believe it really IS a good whiskey.
Typical, almost faceless, though has some pleasing features — not even a spoiler already for another sherried whisky reviewed here.
I will start with the latter. A pleasing feature is that there is just a touch of sherry, small enough to create a pleasing aroma led by white pepper, sultana, gentle vanilla, toasted apples and some lightly coloured sweetness at the background. The last benevolent aspect of this whisky is that it’s light and gentle — I am fine seeing sherried whiskies like that.
Now things get banal: bitter citrus, sourness and smoke somewhere there in the palate and finish.
- Maybe there is something else you don’t see, and that little something makes this a hell of a whisky? — one might ask.
- Rubbish! I see it through. Nothing else. A ‘face in a crowd’ whisky.
White pepper, sultana, gentle vanilla, toasted apples and some lightly coloured sweetness at the background.
Bitter citrus, sourness, smoke.
Lemon zest, smoke.
smooth, sweet and honey like. easy to drink
sweet, fruity, sherry, spicy, full bodied with a long finish
Very good!

Easy to drink, big name whisky!👍 Beautiful colour, good nose, unmissable sweetness, smooth & delicate on the palate....nothing too complex, but a little light on the finish.
Honey, sweet, light sherry.
Warming, delicate, malt, bourbon?
Almond...light peppery...too short but 👍🥃!
Smooth, with good flavor. Good value.
lovely smooth flavour, you can smell and taste the oak cask. just smell the glass after you have enjoyed
cherry, vanilla
mild, weich, keine komplexere Struktur
leichte Süsse, leicht grasig, leicht fruchtig (Orange)
It's a popular brand, but for me this one delivers. It's a light whisky with not to sweet honey tones. I think this whisky oak barrel gives it a layered spiceful pallet. Long, tasty finish
Little bit of honey, very light to drink and layered
Sweet, interesting spices
vanilla caramel aroma with honey after tones faint spice afterglow, enjoyable relaxing dram.

Medium, Sweet,
Very nice scotch with some sweetness and fruity flavors. Rounded on the palate and friendly overall.
Nothing particularly jumping out of the glass but easily approachable, soft and round. Mild caramels, fruits, especially apple and pear. Touch of honey.
Initially sweet with the honey and fruit notes coming through. But this is so friendly and rounded is easily a great scotch for beginners. Very mild peppery notes near the end which fade relatively quickly.
Lingers longer on the palate than you might think. Comes off the pepper spike, which is not harsh, slow and subtly. Vanishes quietly.
Sherry, port, melon, and fruit with lingering nectar/honey finish

Fruity
amazing!
Tasted and enjoyed but no notes. March 2019 Glasgow
Nut is omnipresent in this Speyside whisky, and the sherry cask adds a certain depth to the flavour. Spice and peat also make a very good team in this whisky, creating a very bold taste.
Simple, with a slight nuttiness. Very woody.
Subtle spice with some almost hidden peaty notes.
A spice bomb, that lingers for long and transforms gradually into nut. There is also a grassy and peaty background to it.
Nice sweet and sherry-like flavor
The Double Wood is aged for 12 y. in 2nd or 3rd fill bourbon casks and then placed in Oloroso butts for 9 months. Quite sweet and flavorful. Interesting and very nice stuff. Maybe not fully balanced, but quite enjoyable at all. Comes across as a little older and with enough personality to stand out without being exceptional.

Sherry, honey, vanilla, mixed citrus peel, some floral overtones...
Toffee, vanilla, cinnamon, sweet pepper, barley...
Spicy, oak, ginger, apple, grape...

Smooth / vanille / honey / sherry
Proost
it's balanced sweet and wood. preserved prune and sherry.
Honey and sultanas. Too sweet for me. No detectable wood flavors as honey overpowers all
Honey and raisins
Clover honey, very sweet
Dry oak then more honey
Smooth at the nose, caramel and chocolate flavors. dry at the beginning, It becomes smoother in the end with some banana scent.
sweet vanilla, banana&caramel (it reminds me when you cook little pieces of banana in brown sugar, with a little drop of vanilla)
short but intense finish
amazing raisin, honey aroma, sadly taste is not up to that.

Excellent speyside dram, an absolute favorite. Vanilla, butterscotch, dried fruits like plum and raisin, honey and a bit of cinnamon. Doesn't linger to long.

Well balanced easy drinking worth a dram
Goed van smaak iets sterkere afdronk

Sicher nicht jedermanns Geschmack aber genau meins. Eher süsslicher Geruch. Anfangs fruchtig. I love it. Sehr guter whiskey für den Preis

Very smooth, great whisky for price. Could smell sherry cash a mile away, not much burn or aftertaste
lovely sweetness and floreal hints
Smooth but a bit flat in profile. Finish is short, but a nice Sherry nose.
smooth and nice
I saved the best available dram from the restaurant for the 4th round and maincourse of the diner.
The classic 40% Speysider Balvenie 12 Double Wood.
Refill bourbon and 1st fill Oloroso casks were used by master blender David Stewart to compose this dram. He regularly states to be very proud of this one, cause it was his and Balvenies first experiment with two cask maturation.
It brought the ailing Balvenie back in business back in the 80's.
On the nose this one is very inviting with sherry, sweet fruits and vanilla/honey notes. Only soft alcohol is detectable. Promising start.
The sweet and balanced taste has strong sherry with a fruity honey and a spicy cinnamon. A floral part and sugared nuts gave it some complexity.
The medium pleasant finish has more of the sweet nuts and spicy cinnamon. Nicely and warming but at the end turning a bit dry.
A nice and advisable dram from Balvenie. Good, but not great though.

Sweet, fruity.

A real blend of honey heather, oak and floral notes
Very smooth, a nice sherry flavor develops, spicy in a good way
Long, with hints of orange peel, very pleasant
floraler Geruch, leicht süßlich. Geschmack ist süßlich, flacher Geschmack. leichtes alk-brennen. mittellanger abgang
Delicious, really delicious. Sip generously and let your whole mouth bathe in its glory. Delicious.
plaisant and easy drink
This has a very subdued nose and opens up a bit more with some water. Reminiscent of bourbon which is surprising for a malted barley rather than grain Scotch whisky. American oak influence is really noticeable with spice and char, giving way to sweeter finish thanks to the European sherry oak. Easy to drink and some unique flavor profiles, thick and mouth filling, a bit syrupy but not overpoweringly so. Medium long finish, flavors remained for about 1 minute to 90 seconds at the end. Solid whisky and anyone who loves bourbons will love as well.
This is easy to drink and pleasant. However its not interesting to me. Rather boring. Its probably best for relaxing moments. But then... so are most single malts.

Fruity but not overwhelming, vanilla hints, gentle burn. Lovely
One of my fav whiskies. It has really increased in price though over the last few years. The sherry cask that the whiskey is put in at the end of its aging process creates a lovely deep sweet flavour.
Enjoyable Speyside with a smooth sipping flavor.
A legitimately delicious whisky, and a very pleasant experience.
Caramel
Smooth mouthfeel, hint of sour, some sharpness but very mellow.
Spicy, like cinnamon
A brilliant dram in every way. Smooth, deep and rich flavor with a pleasant nose aswell. One of my all-time Speyside favourites and a bottle that will always be found in my cabinet.
Nice round whisky with not too strong sweet tones and a very nice hint of tangerine zest. Doesn’t last too long.
Always very enjoyable Speyside single malt. The double wood passing makes it smooth and gives it round, sweet finish. Average whisky form Speyside region, which doesn't mean no good, at all.
Subtly sherries finish helps to round off an otherwise slightly rough dram. Plenty of flavours fighting for attention but nothing really at the forefront. Spiced & sweet, very enjoyable.
Gristy, subtle nuttiness intertwined with vanilla spice and fruity undertones.
Sweet on the tip of the tongue, a gentle spice develops with a little vanilla, a hint of peat plays off the spice. Lightly fruity with a nutty earthiness and cinnamon hiding in there too.
Woody notes build into the finish. Spicy, slightly drying, sweet residue lingers on.
Really nice Whisky for Beginners.
great go to for price point.
Nose: light, fruity/floral, slightly complex nose
Palate: very light with a coffee/dark chocolate aftertone
Body: very smooth and light
I like the coffee and caramel tones, but they are not to present. Wonderful all day / all event whisky. Also great for sharing with newlywhisky explorers.
peppery, coffee, subtle banana mildly peated. caramel and apple cider on the nose.
Warm caramel nose. Rich flavor without much burn. Very drinkable.
Dark for a Speyside but with honey fruity notes
Sherry and apple
Fruit and vanilla
Long smooth
very good

One of my favorites for the price. slightly sweet and fruity with a nice long, light finish.
Normally I'm not a type that likes a fruity whisky. Because I got often disappointed in the past. After reading up I thought it was time to try a balvenie. Its fruity, light and feels warm in the mouth. Nice for a hot day.
Very smooth And gentle. Big vanilla And oak on the nose, maybe a hint of caramel. Really smooth when tasted. Fruitiness comes with the long finish. Great speysider. Will buy it again.
A superb introduction to the world of single malt Scotch. Very reasonable price for a balanced dram. No peat that I can detect.
Unless you simply must have the peat, you cannot go wrong with The Balvenie DoubleWood.
Sweet honey.
beautiful smooth, sherry time is a really nice touch
Really smooth with excellent flavours....and a good finish.
Strong honey and full taste. Must try.
Awesome whisky for a reasonable price.
Vanilla oak honey

Rich flavours and creamy scent.
Nice medium Scotch. Tannins, earthy, some floral ate the end.
smooth, fruit finish, sweet
great smoky taste
Smooth, sweat and somewhat creamy. A less interesting Balvenie
got some creme brulee on the nose with a good peat finish.
Slightly sweet and oaky. Smooth and easy to drink. Probably would be a good choice for someone new to Scotch.
Nice complex smooth scotch
Nice sweet vanilla mild spice and dried fruits
Smooth warm but not over powering. Vanilla and mild spices touch of oak and sweet fruits.
Nice and smooth warm and complex and pleasant finish
very light. some pear, vanilla and straw.
oak and vanilla.
the finish is too strong..
Vanilla and orange peel on the nose, honey and spice on the finish. Great mouthfeel and smooth all around.
Vanilla, orangepeel
Smooth, light, clean

Oakey and smooth. a very pleasant tipple....
Vanilla and honey; classic Speyside.
Overtly oakey; not a fan
Te zacht, smakeloos, waterig
Smooth not overwhelming, enjoyable whisky!
For me almost the same as Aberlour 12 Double cask - medium strong alcohol while nossing with a feel of sweetness and fruits. Smooth, light, sweet and fruity whisky for every evening with a bit spiciness.
sherry, citrus, sweet, strong oaky, non alcoholic nose
lekkere whisky!
quit nice and delicate
Very sweet and fruity flavor, very different from my usual drams, but a nice, refreshing change now and then.
Niet scherp
top notch
een heerlijk goed drinkbare whisky, aanrader!!
Soft sherry nose / rich sherry fruity flavour / slightly wood / soft and easy to drink
Easy toch drink, nice tastful
Banana, toffee and lots of sweetness on the nose, smooth and easygoing on the palate. So smooth in fact that the long flavourful aftertaste comes as a big surprise! Could drink this every day!
Top!
soft and easy.
good everydaydram
An absolute delight. After the tiny "whisky hit", you get a delicious whisky layered with flavors that linger long after the whisky has gone from your mouth. Highly recommended and one of my favourites!
