great for intro to scotch
MacAllan dont make a "bad" scotch. This is beautiful.
Smooth easy drinking, neat or a gentle touch of ice or water.
sweet toffee flavours over a slightly spicy taste.
classic speyside, easy drinking
Strong. Smells sweet and oakish but not as sweet on pallet.
Macallan has always been reliable, with good balance of bouquet and strength
very smooth taste. cherries light burn at end
it is SO Sherry heavy. the original 12 is a sherry bomb to begin with, but this one is a little too far for my taste. tons of raisin, apricot, plum, and a tracle/toffee sweetness. if you're a sweet whisky lover, give it a try.
Sherry and oak..honey and sweet
Spiced apples and pears on the nose, fading into homey after a while. Barest hint of smoke with a bit of salt. Taste of flowers and apricot on palate with a slight savory hint of puff pastry in the background, with cinnamon coming through after a while on the tongue. A large helping of petrol-like flavours settles immediately before the swallow, fading into faintly medicinal notes and loose leaf tea on the tongue in the finish. A surprising splash of boiled Job's tears emerges on the immediate finish after a few swallows.
Sherry and the spice really comes through. Great whisky
Hmm. Expected more but got less. Hints of oak, sherry, smoke, honey, caramel, salt and bitterness at the finish but still a comfortable choice. Better with a dash of water.
strong flavors. Lots of Sherry. Some oak as well.
A bit Sharp.
Really nice whisky with lots of sherry.
easy smooth dram. obviously lots of sherry. great daily drinker
Bom single malt. Aroma com vanila, canela, maçã. Sabor equilibrado, barril no entorno, especiarias, bom final. Sem muita complexidade. No todo um agradável Scotch. Cheers!
So finally a Macallan dram hits my glas.
The Macallan 12 sherry oak it is. Sadly I wasn't able to get my hands on a 43%, so this 40% will have to do.
On the nose, as expected you get heavy sherry. A sweet heavy sherry with vanilla and honey but also marmelade and cranberrie.
No alcohol is detectable.
In the back some cloves, ginger and a hint of fresh tobacco.
The tasting is sherry smooth with lots of dried fruits and oaky spice. A hint of menthol and sage. Soft tannins are also coming trough.
The long and powerful finish is pleasant.
There is not much wrong with this dram, but stil i am dissapointed.
A feeling like: is this all the mighty Macallan has to offer?
All I have to offer for this Macallan is 80 points.
There are a lot of better priced sherry bombs out there.
Really enjoyed this, one of my favourites.
Sweet and smooth sherry whisky. It's nice but too expensive. For less money you can get older, more interesting and complex whiskies.. so meh.
my everyday drinking whiskey
Full of sherry. Significant caramel. Feels bit unbalanced bit still good.
Sherry is overwelming. Too sweet for a whiskey
Sherry, Carmel, Vanilla, rich
