This one is matured in Spanish and American oak sherry casks.
The nose is the best feature of this stuff, as it has an alluring floral essence, complemented by a mixture of delicate sweet and spicy flavors. Palate is quite sour and drying, but what wasn't announced by the nose. It's actually borderline dryness. A nice light, slightly oily mouthfeel. The body is medium, very firm and smooth. Sherry notes is really subtle. It's giving the ability to make its mark, but perhaps the cask influence is just a little too subtle. And it's leading to a very enjoyable easy drinking scotch that lacks just a bit of complexity and richness to be truly remarkable. The finish is long, rich and warming. Quite a nice stuff, but I expected more in terms of palate from the 17 y.o. release. This expression is discontinued. (Bottling at 02.03.2011, bottle code L02 03 11 3 17:21 BB)
