Full bodied, deep and rich dram. Intense peaty nose, sweet smoky palate, long spicy finish. My second Ledaig after G&M 12yo. Both are very good. I like them because of the ballance between peat, smoke and sweet vanilla notes, when no one of them doesn't prevail

Oh boy, that worked out well. Very well balanced smoke, malt and fruits. So tasty, round, vibrant. Perfect daily dram.

I loved the Ledaig Sinclair, but I did not love this one. Ledaig 10 is a little bit of smoke and lots of pepper.

First bottle of 2022, dicided to start the year with peat.
At distillery website they state it is non-chill filtered and natural colour, but for some reason it doesn't state the natural colour on the label. 46,3 abv, 30-40 ppm peat, matured in ex-bourbon casks.
Medicinal peat, butter, barley, overripe fruit (pear, apple), butterscotch
After adding some water the peatiness calms down a little bit, and the overripe fruit stands out more.
Very interesting palate. Fresh, sweet & salty, smoky. Taste vanishes first but then comes back quite intensively.
After adding water the texture becomes very creamy, and it tastes there's a bit of umami too.
Smoke, umami, taste of freshly baked bread with smoked cheese.
Trying with a bit cold. An ok for the price.Nor komplex nor faint.

This whisky really reminds me of an Ardbeg 10 with lemon and salt in the place of smoked meatiness. On the nose the peat comes first, but there is lemon and other nuances. On the palate there is a good amount of smokey peat, lemon, and salt. Wonderful 10 year old.

As the bottle goes down and airs out, the smoke fades and gives way to more iodine themed notes on the nose and palate like you get with lagavulins and ardbegs.
Coming back to it a few months later after it has sat about half full, the more pronounced notes have mellowed and equalized with the other notes. It remains smokey on the nose, but there now seems to be a more equal mix of lemon, iodine, and smoke with some saltiness. It is now less of a blast but also more clearly multidimensional.

Good whiskey. Very smokey, but with a vanilla smell. Taste is alcoholic and sharp. Salty and peppery aftertaste.
Might seem simple at first, but I think it's one of the better Islay whiskeys, with nice layers of taste.

Pronounced "LEDGE-igg"? Pale yellow/gold color. Not leggy, per se, but with raindrops that stick to the inside of the glass.
I am truly delighted by Ledaig: it's wonderfully balanced, with lots of peat but not fetishizing it. It's got salt, pepper, smoke and a sweet barley finish. Highly recommended.
The nose is lovely, mild tin of vanilla tobacco peat, with just a touch of menthol at the tail end. Some iodine and car fumes; smoke but the kind you close your eyes and inhale. A really nice barley sweetness that balances everything out. A little meaty, but a little, though with some fennel folded in.
The flavor is bonfire peat smoke at the very first sip: spent matches and lots of salt and black pepper spices. Cinnamon gum, like the bit of a Big Red. The peat permeates the whole thing. Barley and toffee to round out the swallow.
The finish is prickly salt rock and white pepper. Lots of spice: cinnamon, star anise, fennel. Peat smoke and rich potting soil. The rock salt sticks until the very end.

Viel Torfrauch, zu dem leichte Zitrusfrüchte, im Antritt sehr fruchtig, weicht aber schnell der Eiche und dem Rauch. Der Abgang ist lange und sehr rauchig.
Meaty Peaty Big and Bouncy

I find this whiskey to be delicious, bold and spicy with peat, brine, smoke, sherry and stone fruit notes.
The peat is more medicinal/iodine than smokey.

Intensely smokey smell. Same on the taste, but rewards you with complexity and sweetness while it develops. Satisfying finish of smoke and vanilla.

typical Tobermory sweetness some between cereals and oak, old smoke, stuffy, almost like an Islay

I'm pretty bored of ex-bourbon peated scotches. Anyway I have to be the more objective as possible.
N: honey, peat and iodine
M: more peat, citrus, strong spiciness and black pepper, more iodine. Very oily.
F: long, salty, hint of ginger. Obviously peat.
More flavours than the usual peated scotch, anyway my rating is low because I'm into peated scotch with sherry-port-marsala-vines finish.

Tasted after enjoying the Tobermory 10. Really fantastic malt, lightly peated and richly flavoured of vanilla and yellow fruit. Powerful and nearly balsamic finish, definitely matching the top of my favourites.

I'm now a big fan! what a lovely surprise. I like the peatyness and it's just a good all round whisky that's definitely worth a go. I'll be back for more when I finish the bottle.
A bit of barley on the nose, watery at first sip, briny in the middle of the palate, finishing in the back of the throat with a smouldering, waning smokiness. Exceptional.
