decent Whisky. sweet vanilla juice
Tried batch no. 111. I've tried over 20 different kinds of bourbons, ranging from $25-$100, and this one's my favourite. It balances the grains' flavour profiles very nicely.
The alcohol comes off strong at first, followed by some brown sugar and cherry on the nose.
Kind of a medicinal and spicy taste, but rather a bit flat in my opinion. finishing in that same path, quite long and warm but again the alcohol is pretty prominent..
I think I like the Buffalo Trace Kentucky straight bourbon better actually.
Just isn't there for me, everyone else loves this...just average to me. Too thin, more ethanol/alcohol flavor than anything else.
Anfangs säuerlicher, leicht fruchtiger Geschmack, bleibt sehr lange im Mund
Im Abgang dunkel, zart bitter, schokoladig
One of the first bourbons I ever had to start my tasting adventures in the world of whiskey. Always is consistent and among my favorite inexpensive indulgences. A good friend I can always rely on for a smile.
SETTING: At the end, I close my eyes and picture sitting on a nice, grassy hill with a big oak tree giving me shade with its yellow-orange autumn leaves. Skies are a crisp blue and not a cloud in sight. A good day.
- Made In: Kentucky, USA
- Distiller: Buffalo Trace, Frankfort, KY
- Classification: Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey
- Age: 10 yrs.
- Mash Bill: Unpublished but believed to be Buffalo Trace mash bill #1: corn=75%, rye= <10%, malted barley=15% - Casks: New charred oak; Char: #4 - Barrel entry proof: 125 - ABV: 45% (90 proof) - Enjoyment method: Neat from a Glencairn glass with father and fellow reviewer, Brian Dawson (username: bdawson57). Check out his review for this bourbon and many others on his profile!
Met with carmelized, red berries and other candied dark fruits to start. Accompanied by a sweet, fruit leather/raisin taste seasoned with brown sugar and cinnamon. Subtle vanilla custard and blueberries join these richer tastes, all with a lovely, seasoned oak playing the role of serving platter for these scents to leap from.
- Mouth feel: rich and full with more of a nip of alcohol burn as opposed to a full bite, likely due to lower proof and rye
- Balance: warm and full
- Visual in Glencairn: exceptionally long legs that are thin and do not cling to the glass for very long
- Taste: the warm, dark fruit leather from the nose carries through to the palate along with raisins and brown sugar. Almost reminiscent of a cherry pie fresh from the oven complete with cinnamon and brown sugar. Hold the ice cream. Between sips, you're comforted with a pleasant, toasted oak taste. Let me say though, even with a thorough Kentucky chew, the salivary glands are BEGGING for another medium-to-large sized sip ;). Did I mention warm, as well?
- Lasting power: Medium to long finish
- No More: The sad and empty Glencairn screams oak at the finish, but you're also left with a somehow bright flavor of dark fruit. Feeling is nice and toasty. I'll take another glass, please.
Vanilla, caramel, spicy, a little coconut. Sweeter with water.
Fairly complex, this bourbon is surprisingly tasty. Very citric, with noticeable orange, honey and vanilla sweetness. Strong oak and nut govern the finishing taste.
Sweet and fruity, orange is dominant with some honey in the background.
Predictable from the nose. Very citric, with some honey sweetness.
Satisfying finish. A lot of oak, with some light notes of nut and vanilla. Powerful but not disturbing.
Peppery, woody, slightly sweet.
Very good for summertime.
Not as easy as the typical Burbon but better for warm summer nights than Scotch
cinnamon and cloves on the nose, more of the same on the palate plus some vanilla, medium spicy finish
Lovely rich sweet and spice bourbon.
Sweetness caramel and candied orange peel
Strong attack owing to the 46 abv but lovely soft honied flavours, with sweet vanilla notes.
Long rich and spicy finish
smooth oaky finish w/vanilla notes
Not bad. A little sweet. Nice spice
nice fruit spice flavor
strong alcohol nosr
nice surprise fruit and spice light coat on tongue
very nice light finish tobacco taste
Vanilla oak yumminess with some spice. Just the right amount of sweetness to have glass after glass. Well done Buffalo Trace.
subtle vanilla notes
Good smooth balanced for the price.
baseline for comparison
Quality easy sipper with bright, crisp, refreshing character and a little short on finish.
Classic bourbon tones: caramel, vanilla, oak; lighter scents like honey and citrus
Bright, crisp, sweet like apples dipped in honey with some undertones of baking spice and caramel
Little bit light on finish with honey, oak and vanilla most prominent. Finish does not linger nor melt away in layers, just sort of fades out. Not bad just too short
Easy drinker with subtle hints of vanilla, caramel and oak give it a pleasing aroma and smooth finish. one if my favorites and a very good value.
Brown Sugar, Molasses, Dark Berries
Sweet cherries, ripe raspberries, vanilla, and caramel on the nose. Dried fruit (mostly cherry), brown sugar, oak, pepper, clove on the palette. Medium to long finish.
wow. very smooth.
Very smooth. Great vanilla notes with hints of oat as well.
My go to bourbon. Great flavor at an adorable price. Notes of vanilla and oak
caranel and vanilla but with a bitterness that tastes like leather and oak. Very smooth, with minimal rye spice. a great bourbon especially at the price.
solid bourbon. among my favorites
Great bottle for under $40!
it fixes the "immaturity" of BT, but i think 10yrs is too much. all oak and char to me.
Good, solid bourbon.
nice flavours and has a nice heat come through at the end
Not too complex but still smooth, with just an ever so slight bite
I think I got one of the poorer barrels from my bottle. Got a little of the spice on the finish, but it was too short and the the beginning was more salty/iodiney than I expected
A fantastic bourbon! Every sip has you gasping for more. Sweet on the nose, sweet and spicy on the palate with a spicy finish that lingers for 5-10 seconds.
Kind of an amazing bourbon. Meets you with notes of dried cherry and chocolate. Honey, vanilla, sweet apple, some banana and cloves are also present. It ends with cinnamon and oak
not a bad whiskey just not my favorite
caramellig eher süss. sehr angenehm
smooth, mild sweetness, some spice
caramel and red apple on the nose. sweet, spice with good char taste notes.
Great sipper at a great value. Always have a bottle in the cabinet.
Best neat or with a cube.
nice flavor smooth finish great price
Nosing the bottle, it had a nice barrel char aroma, but it's hard to nose in the glass without getting hit with the alcohol burn. Sweet, fruity complex flavors. Let this one sit on the tongue for a good 10 seconds, I get fruits and oak. Also, letting it sit on the tongue allows the alcohol to evaporate, and it won't be harsh going down.
i dont like very salty and not my thing
Another great starter bourbon. The fact that it’s 10 yr give people an chance to taste come of the barrel flavors in it. The finish for me kinda drops off too quick.
Great bourbon, with a nice rye presence. Dark and robust in both smell and taste, like old leather. I'm sure this will become a mainstay
Avery good bourbon. Low Rye, low spice, but nice full flavor with sweetness. ABV 45%.
not my favorite. had a bit of a plastic taste to it.
Very good "single-ish" barrel bourbon. A bit too much alcohol on the nose and the throat for me. Not as smooth as you might expect for a 10 year whiskey. I really like BT products. This is supposed to be a 10 year BT . I like BT better. I will buy ER for $35 in NC but prefer as a bar pour or on sale.
Another great Buffalo Trace product. Smooth taste that has sweet notes of vanila and spices. Although on the sweet side, I Ike this one alot. So much so, Ill always keep a bottle for entertiaining. Highly recommend for beginner or seasoned bourbon drinkers.
Nice oak and sweetness.
#1 on my list, good oak and spice profile with just enough sweetness to bring it all together
Caramel, oak, some toffee
To me, one of the best buys on the market. I keep this stocked.
really liked this one. sweet taste and finish. not much to the aroma which made the taste surprising.
This bottle of ER10 was excellently “hot”. The citrus I get from this is worth more exploration, but I’m not sure if I’ll get the same in my next bottle, though, many people get the citrus in the nose as well. I like this just as much neat as I do with a big ice cube and a splash of orange bitters. All-in-all, ER10 is on my Keep On Hand list.
sweet, vanilla cream, oak, mild citrus, almost “peat-y” soggy earth
Oak all over, hard burn throughout, toasted caramel background
Medium-long, sweet and pleasantly peppery finish
Terrific for the price. I'll get you where you wanna be.
Good profile overall with obvious notes of fruity and caramel sweetness and a nice mix of oak and spice. Nothing super complex, but always finishes cleanly.
good easy nose with dry fruit front and oak back, simple clean finish, not complex but nothing to complain about
easy, little alcohol, light wood, light fruit little else
dried fruit, light vanilla, light oak
great bourbon for the price
Strong oak flavor
smooth sweet with a little spice. what else can you ask for
Great for the price
definitely one of my favorites, would highly recommend.
I prefer this with a bit of water.
This has a floral taste that I just don't care for. One of the few bourbons I don't enjoy.
vanilla, toasted marshmallows, low heat. smooth, short finish
Toasted marshmallow, vanilla, cacao, orange, caramel, dark fruit, toffee, butterscotch, clove, oak. Lots of flavor/sweetness to it. Incredibly smooth. One of the best values you can find in bourbon.
Great bourbon. Sweet vanilla on the front, spicy oak finish.
smagte den på whisky messe slog benene væk under mig gjorde mig til bourbon fan
Slightly sweet; Lots of barrel; Spicy
A light sweetness on the nose with more of the same on the taste plus some mature oakiness. Overall very enjoyable and well worth the $30
Smooth, all around wonderfully created bourbon.
Delicious, tasty, simple smells amazing sweet, rich, vanilla, banana cream, dark plums, sherry, bit of orange and wood, acetone just behind,on the palate it has dry wood spicyness, not to much sweet, raisins, cinnamon, rum flavor, caramel, milk chocholate, oak.Warm and balanced finished with medium long peppery, oak, dark bitter chocholate, leather aftertaste.Very flavorfull and amazing bourbon.
incredibly smooth, sweet, vanilla and oaky flavor, will get again
Smooth finish with caramel undertones. Very good in a Manhattan.
one of my favorites, but hard to find.
My favorite go-to whiskey. Nice butter and light citrus on the nose. Orange, cocoa, and toffee make their way into a warm tobacco finish. great bang for your buck
citrus, toasted oak, mint, chocolate
orange, oak, vanilla, smoke
caramel and tobacco
Good bang for your buck whiskey. Some cherry up front, full bodied, sweet brown sugar and caramel, some cinnamon and sweet corn on the finish. One of the few bourbons I have in 1.75l size.
Smoky, earthy flavor. slightly spicy in the beginning but tapers off with a nice clean finish and little to no burn
Amazing quality at this price point, sipping better than many more expensive bourbon. It earned a spot in the "daily sipper" spot, and I continue to enjoy!
slight bite to finish of the smooth roll down your throat....
Fantastic bourbon in the Buffalo Trace family. Always on my shelf. Amazing value for the price. I've had bourbons half as good at twice the price
Smooth, vanilla, caramel, and the finish for me tastes of very ripe bananas
very great taste. Nice oak and vanille
One of my favorite sipping whiskeys. Great value. Nice oak and vanilla flavors. Hard to beat for the price.
silky, mellow with a good bourbon bite
Spicy, tangy, oaky with a slight burn. The oak taste lingers though.
molasses, brown sugar, Caramel, wood
Cinnamon, molasses, slightly medicinal
Oaked vanilla scent. Smooth mouthfeel slightly spicy. Barely hot finish.
Vanilla and bourbon
Spice and vanilla oak
Smooth with a little heat
Straight up neat. Good flavor.
Eagle Rare ... I am pleasantly surprised and happy with this bourbon.
The aroma becomes more prevalent the longer the bourbon is exposed to the air. I cannot say I get cloves but the spiciness is more than pepper.
Eagle Rare Bourbon ... The aroma becomes more prevalent the longer the bourbon is exposed to the air. I cannot say I get cloves but the spiciness is more than pepper. Upon subsequent sips the leather is apparent but not overbearing. I do not taste cherry but do pick up dark fruit ... maybe blueberry?
Wow ... the finish may be the longest I've experienced. Absolutely no aftertaste-just a mouth and upper throat warming sensation. Upon swallowing (with no bourbon in my mouth) I could feel the dark fruit and sweetness in the throat but not taste it. Very complex.
Not a Bourbon fan but this could turn me. Nice nose, spicy taste, good finish. Good drinking experience. Well done B Trace.
Very pleasant taste
This is my desert island bottle. 10/5 stars. It doesn't get better than this.
Not fan. Had earthy notes on the finish.
one of the best bourbons I've had.
great nose. vanilla is very rich. flavorful whiskey. long finish. great whisky and great price
Smooth, sweet, just enough heat. Great everyday bourbon.
Omg.. I didn't bring my Jefferson's Ocean at Sea Cask Strength to the Destin, Florida beachfront but this saved the trip. To sum it up in a nutshell, it's like drinking a whipped cream cherry jello shot. Luckily I know where I can buy more in Texas. A wonderful nose, a surprisingly smooth mouth, and a memorable finish.
sweet and smooth
toffee notes, sweet and spicy, dry finish
sugar, more toffee, fudge and cream
spicy, stays on the tongue, peppers and heat
Sweet, dried fruits, cherries upfront. Fades to smooth tahitian vanilla, lingers in the mouth. Medium length finish, minimal burn.
sinaasappel schil, citrus.
Sweet caramel, cherries, lightly oaked, and smooth. Fabulous with a cigar at the end of a long day.
Sweet, fruity, smoked, vanilla
Sweet vanilla with just a hint of oak to it. Goes down smooth. Very nice for the price
guter Geschmack, fruchtige Note mit Vanille.
Smooth with vanilla and caramel, hints of oak. very good value.
keeps ya nice and warm! award winning for a reason..
Dark Chocolate and Spices. Goes down smooth.
