If there is such a thing as a "summer sipper" Bernheim would be it for me. This is bourbon-light and is easy to sip when enjoying a hot evening outdoors.
Nothing special, just a nice bourbon aroma.
Light and wheaty with carmel-butterscotch undertones as would be expected from a whiskey made from 100% wheat.
Finishes quickly with no aftertaste or burn owing to the low ABV.
Wheat??? - On checking, its 51%, then a mix (barley/maize) - Intriguing. I'm happy with this drop in my growing collection. Light to medium bodied, lovely colour, strong spirity nose, cherry sweet, then a taste of dry cereal & bourbon, medium warming finish. Nice! I enjoyed it neat, but its a monty as a mixer!👍
Cherry, sweet, spirit (45%)
Bourbon, dry cereal, warm
Medium, very woody, dry, pleasant enough but dry.
Very nice whiskey. Very sweet and smooth. Deceivingly hot and spicy. Buttery and toasty. Toasted oats is prevailing taste. Think adult honey nut cheerios. Very good. $25 on sale in NC.
Great value buy at $30
On opening you get a very strong fruity and sweet syrupy scent. Once settled then notes of medicinal musk are noticeable. Taste is smooth but very light with no burn on the finish. Wheat is evident with some tinge of spice. Overall not a bad whiskey with some history.
