fresh green and red apples. pears. honey. icing sugar. musty leather. beeswax and vanilla. this has a very coating and thick mouthfeel. opens up in the glass and every pour you find something else on it. divine. finishes with honeysuckle and apple pie
Bei diesem Aberfeldy wurde viel Potential verschenkt. Nach einer wirklich schönen, fruchtig-süßen und reifen Nase ist er am Gaumen dann viel zu dünn, fast wässrig. Der hätte unbedingt einen höheren Alkoholgehalt gebraucht.
Zuerst eine dominante Orange mit jeder Menge Honig. Dahinter altes Eichenholz. Später gesellen sich zur Orange auch noch Pfirsiche, reife Birnen, Honigmelone und eine Spur Marzipan.
Ölig und sehr mild mit leichter Süße. im ersten Moment fast wässrig auf der Zunge, dann Honigsüße, Birnen und Vanille. Gegen Ende eine leichte pfeffrige Würze. Insgesamt viel zu dünn.
Eine leichte Würze mit weichen Eichenholznoten und zartbittere Schokolade verbleibt mittellang am Gaumen.
It is light and subtly complex. I got mild sweet, floral, spice, and smoke. The nose is quite consistent with the palate and both are likely to change depending on the temperature and what you had eaten before. As it is light and complex it might present itself best a while after mild food and on a mild day. When you focus in it is a real treat with the subtle notes.
Coming back to it a few times, I have gotten a consistent mandarin orangeand semi-ripe cantaloupe on the nose. Then on the palate it goes from orange to floral to a hint of marzipan at the finish with a constant honey note all the way through.

Not a bad dram, rich in honey and flowery notes, BUT: for the price, there are several whiskies that easily surpass this one. Also the 40% make it feel a little thin.
