Palate: Rye spice and caramel

delicious rye. in my top 5 to carry at all times
I must be spoiled by 20+ year old Scotches, but Whistlepig comes across as overly oaky and coarse. Unmistakably rye but too pricy for what is delivered. Would rather drink Rittenhouse rye at 1/3 the price
Takes getting used to when drunk neat, rather something to mix.
fruchtig, klebstoffig
fruchtig (Birne, Kirsche), bitter-würzig; verdünnt süsser werdend
fruchtig (Kirsche), sprittig, mit langem, fruchtigem Finish
Bold and Spicy Rye
Intensity on the nose is moderate and not over powering. Medium smoke. Scents of cinnamon, coffee, caramel, maple, and butter scotch.
High proof taste with a full body. Sharp texture with a long finish.
am I whistling for the pig or is the pig whistling? great stuff regardless.
VERY spicy, whistlepig has a distinct rye spice that is all it’s own. Once you push past the initial rye hit, you’ll find a lot of ripe green pears and sweet fruitiness, Followed by caramel apples. The finish is long and warming. It’s intense, but super enjoyable.
Sweet rye, stone fruits and baking spices on the nose, sweet and mildly spiced round palate, the finish is long with great balance between the sweet and spice.
wow! that was really good. smooth, easy finish with a nice flavor that lingers subtly on the sides of the tongue.
nose is rye without the usual heavy dill aroma. taste is EARTHY, like the smell of a humid, mossy forest after a thunderstorm on a hot day. Very interesting whiskey, but wouldn't recommend for first time trying rye. overpriced
boozy aroma, smooth flavor all the way
Very earthy, tastes like a rye trying to be a bourbon. very unique, but as I am not the biggest rye fan, I would be okay with not having it again. good addition to have on the bar though for entertaining.
earthy, allspice, orange peel
earthy, oaky, young oak, orange peel
long, very very earthy
My favorite Rye and my go to after a hard day of work. Relax on the back deck with my bottle, a Glecarin and just take it all in.
Earthy start. Pete, soil. Quick finish
Rye, sharp bite
Earth. Peat, soil.
More peat
earthy initial taste. then smooth with vanilla finish
Very good Rye Whiskey. High spice and vanilla. ABV 50%.
Definitely a solid rye. It has some great spice and traditional rye flavors.
Very earthy taste (dirt, mushrooms, green wood, etc...). Not at all like the distiller's tasting notes. Did I get a bad nip?
great
Enjoyed this rye and thought it had a nice flavor.
nice rye spice with complex flavors that compliment one another
Nice rye, but not worth the price tag.
Wonderfully sweet nose of maple syrup and honey, with a faint grassy, biting afternote. Very warm, pleasing taste with a high, strong burn. Extremely minimal finish.
a little dill, a little grassy, and a lot of long lingering rye spice. notes of vanilla and caramel. one of the longest finishes I've found in a rye... very nice, very pricey...
long long long
enjoyable. little heat.
nice lingering finish. a little oily on the tongue. spicey. some heat at the end
a little burn but comes late, letting you experience the honey
my first rye and it was definitely different. I did taste some spice and citrus. not my favorite.
While I'm not a huge fan of rye whiskey, this is an excellent one. One of the best I've sampled.
Amazing rye. Best I've had. High priced. Haven't purchased a bottle. Only drinks at restaurants
one of the truly smoothest whiskey I've ever had.
