Oh there you are Glenmorangie! Just when I was beginning to think this distillery would never impress me (mind you I still have their Signet to try) this unassuming bottle I only tried because I had experienced everything else on the menu goes and wows me…
Maybe it was the fine food, or maybe it was just that I honestly did not expect anything from Glenmorangie, but this whisky really impressed. I would even go as far as to say this is the quintessence of what a Highland malt should be in my mind. Dried fruit galore!
Reminded me of something but couldn’t quite put my finger on it. LOTS of dried fruit and a bit of vanilla.
This is a nice surprise I’ll admit
Palate is a lot more forward than the nose. Plenty more of that dried fruit, especially peaches. Also has a bitter sensation akin to conserve/marmalade. Like zesty but more bitter and less zest.
