About

Amrut is India's very first single malt whisky, manufactured by Amrut Distilleries. It was launched on the 24th of August, 2004. The brand became famous after whisky connoisseur Jim Murray named Amrut Fusion single malt whisky as the third best in the world in 2010. Amrut Distillery is based in Kambipura, India. Their peated barley is imported from Scotland, but all other barley is grown locally.

General description

Hot as India in the summer. Has a nice nose but way too much after thst.

Nose

Cherry cordial, toffee, espresso, leather, cocoa.

Palate

Hot, even with a good amount of water. Spicy. Chocolate from the port but not much beyond.

Finish

Astringent and drying. Spice and alcohol heat.

I was totally supriced by this strong whisky. 1-2 drops of water make it even more enjoyable but somehow I like the pure character as a contrast to my other bottles with mainly 43-46 alc%.
