General description

Sweet bourbon/rye with a Islay Peat finish. I love Islay scotch. I guess I drink too much of it to pick up much Peat flavor in this. Still I enjoy drinking this, trying to pick out the flavors.

Nose

Alcohol, sweetness

Palate

Sweet, slight smokiness slight Molasses, Rye floral, peppery

Finish

Bit of Peat smoke, sweet

Not a big fan the first time I tried it. Very smokey with some bitter chocolate and medical-grade rubber on the nose (not bad, just interesting). very smokey but not earthy on the palate. A bit of the bitter chocolate, and a decent bit of spice that hits the palate immediately. The peaty, earthy taste starts to appear a bit on the finish but doesn't last too long. Mouth stays warm for a while. Growing on me but not 100% in love yet.

Not for everyone. The Mad Scientists ya High West have created a unique offering blending Bourbon, Rye and Scotch Whiskey. It’s called Campfire for a reason, if you don’t like smoke, stay away. I found it was even better when I revisited it several months after opening the note and having my first pour. Definitely grew on me, and I’ve purchased it again.

Doing a flight night of High West Whiskey...

Campfire was our least favorite, not as good as we hoped.

General description

Camp fire, turpentine, peat and caramel on the nose, bitter chocolate mixed with smooth vanilla on the palate, smokey, spicy medium finish. Splash of water quiets the camp fire and adds raisins on the nose, removes the bitterness of the chocolate, sweetens the vanilla and adds raisin cake on the palate.

Very interesting with the blend of different whiskies. Definitely taste the scotch up front. can't say it's bad, just very different. Worth trying.

campfire is right. Smoke is the dominant flavor, coupled with rye and bourbon spice, its intense. Behind that is sweet honey, and ripe fruit. apples, raspberries, coconut, and a healthy dose of oak. overall it's very drinkable.

I am a fan of the peeted scotches and this is a good mix that picks up some of those flavors. It is not enough to discourage others though.

I really like this mix. Bourbon, rye, peated Scotch mix. Nice campfire smoke, with sweet and spicy notes.

General description

An interesting whiskey with smoky and spicy edges, but quite fruity at the same time - like smoked toast with marmalade.

Nose

Surprisingly fruity, with peach, apple orange and lemon. Vanilla, butterscotch, buttered toast and - in comparison to peated Islay malts - light smoky notes.

Palate

There's the rest of the smoke! It's fighting with rye spices for attention on the foreground.

Finish

The fruit is back (peach, orange), with some ash and dry oak.

An interesting mix of the, scotch and bourbon. The peat notes are subtle enough not to put it haters, but present. I would like the bourbon side to shine through to give some smoothness to the warmth.

Islay peat meets spicy rye. Note bad but was hoping for a bit more bourbon oakiness to round things out.
