Мой первый Bowmore. Обожаю Айлу, но почему-то всегда обходил его стороной. Даже Килхоман успел попробовать, а за Bruichladdich и Bowmore не успел добраться.
Итак, мой первый виски с самой первой винокурни Айлы.
Оформление очень приятное, неброское, но в тоже самое время, очень приятное и солидное.
Мне попался релиз 2016 года, что еще можно записать как плюс. Единственное, что смущает, так это крепость в 40%... для Айлы, на мой взгляд маловато.
Выдерживается виски в бочках из под бурбона (80%) и хереса олоросо (20%). Колер "да", и при этом, цвет просто очаровательный, глубокий и безумно красивый. Холодная фильтрация также "да".
Тело приятное... конечно не самое плотное, но все же определенную маслянистость видно. Ножки не рвутся и довольно не медленно стекают по краям бокала.

Nose

Аромат сразу выдает Айлу... чтобы там не говорили, а запах торфа сразу начинает чувствоваться в процессе наполнения бокала. Торф деликатный и как-то напоминает, прежде всего, запах резины. Автомобильной резины. Полностью отсутствует спиртуозность. Очень приятно пахнет сухофруктами, изюмом и цитрусовыми нотками. Также чувствуется определённая йодоститость, запах морской соли и водорослей. При этом аромат хоть и обволакивающий, но особо не развивающийся, и с течением времени становится немного плоским.

Palate

Вкус такой же не агрессивный ... как будто в компот из сухофруктов и чернослива, добавили резинового торфа, с немножко подгоревшей головешкой дуба, и морской воды. Вкус тоже не мощный, округлый и как-будто чем-то разбавленный. Но несмотря на это приятны, с характерной цитрусовой кислинкой.

Finish

Финиш неплох... чуть больше среднего. Торфянность быстро сходит на нет, оставляя очень приятный привкус груши дички и чернослива. Есть в послевкусии что-то типографское, а также присутствут цедра апельсина и дубовый нотки.

Виски очень приятный, его как будто специально придумали, чтобы не отпугнуть (торф в солоде имеет уровень 30-35 ppm).Он деликатный, очень питкий, но... по мне плоский и бедноватый. Да, это несомненно Айла, и Айла очень приятная, но непонятно почему... немного разбавленная. Но несмотря на всю критику, возьму обязательно еще, есть что-то в этой деликатности очень приятное.

It is that unprecedented case, when during a nosing of an Islay whisky, the smell of oak strikes you first rather than peat, which is, of course, present here in a form of a smoking wood association. At the background of an oak’n’peat dominated aroma-stage here is a subtle sweetly sourness, which much reminds of a fresh or even jelly dogwood.
A tiny bit of water (as for a whisky of 40% abv) for second nosing unleashes black pepper that can’t really wait to punch you in the nose. Moreover, it hides oakiness and even peat — such aggressive aroma-behaviour doesn’t suit this whisky, therefore I recommend it ‘dry’.

The body is moderately oily, while the arrival is rather fast and remarkably gentle for an Islay whisky. It is also strange that the aggressive on a nose black pepper is not that much felt on a tongue, and it is a pleasing feature.

Regarding finish, it is one of the most wonderful whiskies I’ve ever tried. It starts with a fragrant chocolate slowly substituted by a subtly bitter tobacco, and all of that with a continuous presence of a little zesty orange somewhere there in the backstage of a finish.

I don’t like my AyeSLAY aged, but would much desire to see this one so — maltiness suits this whisky really well, though this particular one is not so perfectly rounded.
Overall, it’s a great value for money whisky, which is quite open for casual drinking as well as thoughtful tasting to ‘unlock hidden depth’.

For me, this is not a good first dram of the day. It's a pretty heavy flavor to me, however, following a smoky blend like Johnnie Walker Black, it was not bad at all. Also for me, I would not consider this to be a daily sipper due to the heavy earthen peated flavor which to me has a hint of a taste of kerosene (which I guess makes sense because peat itself is basically a fossil fuel).

Lots of smokiness, but more of the peated kind, not so much the wood smoke kind. Bits of honey or vanilla penetrate the smoke toward the end of the nose.

Palate

Peat smoke throughout, vanilla and honey or almost a creaminess on the very tip of my tongue. It seems like the longer I hold it in my mouth, the more I begin to pick up on lemon, and the more smooth tasting it becomes. If I hold my mouth open and take a breath while holding the whiskey in my mouth and on the middle of my tongue the more pronounced the lemon becomes.

Finish

Smooth smokey and citrus. Again though, the finish reminds me of the smell of kerosene.

Rauch der leicht kalt wirkt dann leichte lakrtizte Noten gefolgt von sehr leichter Eiche
