Smoky, but also a little sweet. Lots of maple syrup on the nose.
Spice, sweet
Smells nice, tastes a little smokey and salty
A little delicate at times but a nice orchard fruit with creamy notes and just enough salt and a hint of smoke. will opt for the 18yr next time in hopes of a more robust body and finish.
Intense maritime character on the nose. Sweet and salty palate. Long spicy finish. Smooth and complex highland classic
vanilla, salt, herbal notes, citrus, yellow fruits
salt, vanilla, yellow fruits, spice
lemon peel, spice, vanilla
This bottle was on the wishlist for some time - then it sat, unopened for some time:
So, June 2021: - Nice sherry amber colour, powerful nose, sweet, spirit & fruity - yet the palate was dry with some aged spices. It was creamy & warming with a medium, pleasant finish of old wood & a hint salty. Its balanced & smooth - probably salty over bitter, but really nice & welcome here; ... a little time & a few drops of water actually gave me a suggestion of smoke that I read about in other reviews: 🤷♂️ I would certainly recommend.
Sugary toffee, fruity, powerful spirit for me! ... Nice!
Buttery, grain & cereal, clove & dry spice - medium bodied, a benign hint of a sulphury, rubber, short lived!
Woody, wholemeal bread, salty.
inoffensive whiskey. Very light in smoke and peat. Easy end of night dram.
63/100
Easy sipping malt that I did enjoy. I like the orange and other light fruits on the nose and the palate is also great. For a 14Y one might expect a bit more, nevertheless. If I had to pick amping the core range I’d go with the Little Bay though!
Saline, waxy, lemon zest, honeycomb, green apple, toffee, malt, maritime, oak, cloves, ash, caramel, smoky, almonds, digestive biscuits, salted popcorn, oatmeal
Solid whiskey. Has the right kind of spice and kick.
Geruch: fruchtig, leicht würzig
Geschmack: fruchtig, würzig, trocken etwas Schärfe
Abgang: Kurz mit etwas Schärfe
on the nose the sea salt is very apparent followed by a nice smokey armoa with a warm burning hey and seaweed.
the taste is complex with a big hit of woody oak, smokey malty tones, a rich fruit and and lemon zing with the finnish of a oak smoke and a very sea salt after taste.
definitely a very good full plate in this single malt and definitely a one to keep in the cupboard.
The nose has a strong orange smell, and quite a lot of other citrus fruits. The slight hint of smoke adds a lot of depth. The plate is quite te sale, with wonen vanilla and salt added. Medium finish, great dram.
Another Costco go-to dram! Yum
.
fruity, apples, mirabelle plums, easy drinkable!
A really nice dram. Something different from the highlands
Pear, Malt funk , sea salt, Wet grass, honey. A nice Earthy peat. Sweet fruits
Sweet honey and poached pear, dank field and a very clean mellow smoke.
Minerals and copper, sea salt and dry wood spice.
very clean, smooth, some fruit.
Smooth drinking, interesting dram. not really my usual cup of tea, but seemed to develop over the course of my tasting!
liquorice, brine, honey
pepper, fruit, liquorice
spice, salt and pepper
ai's sweet & ai's cool
Lots of honey and tropical fruits, and a small touch of smoke on the nose. Easy sipper. Taste is strong initially with notes of oak, malt, and earthiness. I'm not getting much sweetness on the palate, maybe a slight dry sparkling cider. No burn and a bit spice the more I drink. Finishes with a dry oak and slight medicinal notes. Not bad but had higher hopes. New bottle so I'll revisit at another time.
nice and fruity
Very pleasant coastal whisky, plenty of sweetness, salt and oaky spice.
Smooth, sweet, sea salt and light cereal.
More sweetness, berry fruitness, honey, briney, oak and some spice.
Soft, mellow, dry and long.
A touch of sweetness with a soft finish. Slightly peaty but not up front.
A good whisky, very little smoke and Spice. Alot of fruit flavor, grapes and dark fruits

A great whisky for a great price!
coconut taste, weird for whiskey but like it, if you do a tasting make sure to have a lot of palet cleansers are available!
A good expression of West Highland malt. Full bodied, but a bit lacking in palate.
Sweet. Fig jam. Honey. Malt. Fruit cake. Sherry. Touch of peat, barely there though, and slightly salty/brine notes.
Malt. Fig jam. Sherry. Tiny bit of peat (barely there) caramel.
A bit lacking in complexity and not very challenging. For the money, age and “classic malt” appeal I expect much more
Adding water is almost a must. Flavours become much more rounded and minor oils enter.
Medium. Pleasant, but not memorable. Fig jam and malt flavours are most prominent in the oily finish when water is added.
light and fruity on the nose. really tangy fruit with honeysuckle in there too.
slightly underwhelming on the palate. I get spice, menthol, cinnamon notes. the finish is medium and very spicy/oaky
First sip was peppery after ten seconds on the pallet but after that it was quite mild and subtle on the initial but hints of a fruity release and a short departure time
meh. Second time having Oban 14. I like most of other Obans I've had. I can't seem to appreciate the standard 14. It's Okay
Alcohol (quiet high for a scotch, especially this old), Sherry, raisin, wood. Some mild salt.
spicy liquid raisin
sour malty toffee
Oban's standard 14 y.o. expression is matured in refilled ex-bourbon hogsheads. Fine stuff that's almost perfectly balanced, quite smooth and velvety, herewith strong and elegant. The complexity in a strong package. There are smoky notes, but it’s definitely subtle, more a waft than a plume. There's a slight maritime character to it that is very agreeable. Lovely thick mouthfeel as well.
Overall this Scotch that’s well constructed and interesting across all the senses. Very nice and harmonious malt.

N-22, P-21, F-21, B-21.
light smoke, apple, roasted malt, orange, linden honey...
vanilla, apple, butterscotch, strong black tea with linden blossom, a bit of pepper and cumin...
citrus, orchard fruits, sea salt, smoky oak...
Not a big fan of smokiness, this one has a perfect balance if I want something stronger, oceany flavoured. For me delicately salty, spicy and fruity at the same time. Like a orange with some spice marinated in sea water.
Full flavoured, smoky with a sweet finish. This is one to savor.
Sweet honey and vanilla
vanilla and a little bit of dried fruits on the nose, taste is sweet with some fresh fruit notes and a little bit of wood. quite smooth and a nice finish. not my favorite whisky but quite nice either way
pear, apple, vanilla and buttercream jump out of the glass. tasting, there's so much going on. pepper and spice, salt and brine, pear and stone fruit, bitter oak, sweet vanilla, even coconut. you need to try this whisky.
A very good whisky. it's smooth ,spicy with little smoke and salt and a wellcoming long finish.
hint of smoke and fruity, exotic fruits
little smoke, spicy and salty
smoky and dryer
Quite fruity and complex, yet easy drinking, overall a very nice dram.
Peach, red apples, vanilla and sherry.
Sweet and fruity with with hints of pear and peach. A bit spicy alcohol burn on the side.
Pear, peach and a spicy alcohol burn that lasts for a while.
Floral nose, salt and licorice palette
Floral, salt
Licorice, sugar, salt. Slightly bitter.
Licorice, clean
One of the best whisky i ve ever taste so far. Smooth with delicate taste...
Maybe I'm sentimental as I stayed in Oban years ago in travels around the world & the distillery tour was interesting. Pretty smooth though & you can add a few more "o"'s to that smooth.
fruit, sea salt, smoke, honey and spice... perfect balance between smokiness and sweetness
sea salt, dried fruits, wood
Spice, orange, honey and woody smoke
minty freshness, bitter orange and salt
Aangename whisky met een lange afdronk.
great, intense, rich
maritime, slight salty and iodic, in the background darker fruits, a very tiny bit of peat smoke, some citrus fruits rising with some time
full of spices, rich, intense, nice spiciness
slight peat smoke
Rich full bodied Highland offering that is not too smooth. Had deep flavors, orangey zest, smooth oak without bitterness. Crowd pleaser for sure.
Taste sweet with a little bit of smoke. Smell sweet and little fruity.
aangenaam. zacht, smokey, kers/pruim
generic scotch. macallan 12 year double cask is a much better value for the price
ganz gut
fruchtig, blumig, salzig
Salz, Frucht, mild
tropische Früchte Salz, Schärfe
sweet malty nose, sweet, malty, smooth palate, pleasant medium finish.
Langanhaltende Eiche, Rauch, angenehme leicht maritime Nachklänge
smoky and salty
Not remarkable
I smell oranges, apples and some banana. A typical Highland Whisky with a fine and quite long finish.
Spice, smoke, red fruut
Guter Malt. schöne Nase mit Zitrus und Honig. Geschmack auch Zitrus, Vanille, Honig etwas nussig. Recht langer Abgang. Süffiger, ausgewogener, einsteigertauglicher Whisky.
Soft and smooth.
smoke (not peat) and kinda sweet notes. Wuite an elegant whisky
nice peated whisky
peat smoke,fruit,spice,saltines
smokey bacon,salt,iodine,fruit sweet
lovely smokey
Some smoke on nose. Short finish. Simple palate.
Heavy peat smoke flavor but surprisingly easy finish. Likely a whiskey you'll love..or you won't like it. I love it and one of my all time favorite whiskeys to drink. I love the bold aroma and taste but at $85 a bottle, I have to pace myself. If you haven't tried it, do yourself a favor and do so.

Fruity and a bit Briney, absolutely delightful and worth keeping on your shelf.

I like it, sweet, and tasty . Never did get the salty, but that's me.
Soft, sweet nose. Light butterscotch with a tiny smoke. Mouth is sweet fruit with a little smoke and salt. Finish is citrus with a little spice. long and warm. So easy.
Vanilla, summer fruits and a spicy alcohol kick. Very nice, easy to drink Scotch
Fruity, salty notes and a bit smoky
Fruity with hints of smoke. A bit of salty notes.
Mostly oaky notes with a bit of salt.
Medium length on the fruity and oaky notes.
Nice whisky but missing a longer aftertaste, good sweet/fruity taste
it's a simpel but really Nice wiskey
Zacht van geur, fruitig van smaak met hele kleine zout tint

Good Whisky with spicy notes.
Fruits, alcohol, light smokey notes
Spices, sweet, maritimes notes, salt
Slightly complex with notes of some bright fruit or apple skin and a hint of peat. One of my absolute favorites. I may be drinking out of the nostalgia glass as it is the first whisky my Opa ever poured me (or first whisky ever for that matter)
well rounded sweet notes without too much peat and smoke abrasiveness.
Honig, Malt, kaum Rauch. Kräftiges Finish. Geschmacklich aber nicht ganz meins....
lekker zacht en fruitig. korte afdronk
sweet and Smokey
Demerara sugar
sweet caramel with a smoke and woody taste
light and peppery. Not too long
sweet, creamy, ellegant
sweet and smokey but not a very long lasting flavour
salty and good balanced
Well balanced, zesty, some sweetness with subtle smokiness and salt. Long finish.
Zesty with citrus
A balance between sweetness of honey, with some spice, peat and salt.
Long, sweet with oak wood and salt.
My favourite. Smooth and easy to drink with a delayed warm finish.
amazing. pear, caramel, vanilla and other sweetness, all very wel placed in the whisky, the salt makes everything complete. the smokeyness is a great addition to an already great palate
Très doux et agréable à boire.
Smooth, silky, hint of smokiness and saltiness. However almost refreshing at the same time.
Smooth and easy for beginners. Interesting nose. Taste a bit generic
Easy to drink. Very balanced. Matchs perfect with maduros cubans cigars.
First bad sign was the thin lightweight bottle. The the flavor is of cheap rum soaked spicy cigars. the after taste is just the hottness of a cheap 3 y.o. whiskey.
nice
not interesting, salt on the finish
alright
Smooth, quite light, not that interesting
Great Light smoking whisky with a fruity nose
Quite smooth
smashed this one down way to fast
leichter Rauch und weich
great balance with smoke and sweet notes. easy to drink.
smooth and rich just enough smoke to make a rich finish.
very smooth, this is my kind of whisky
excellent
mild butterscotch
inoffensive
similar to Islay but with added sweetness
I add to chance to visit Oban distillery. I as new Whisky fan. I think it is a very balanced one ! I really like it
this has it all: spice, complexity, smoke, honey, ocean!
dark fruitiness of cherry with a touch of salt and smoke, all totally smooth
a little smoke, and a little bit of spice, set against a base of sweet fruit and honey. it's hard to top this anywhere near the price.
I tasted this Speyside alongside a Balvenie doublewood 12. it was around the time of my return to scotch from Irish whisky. This is a light Whisky much like Green Spot is a light Irish Whisky. Light and easy drinking but the Balvenie won out on flavor.
slightly smoky with spice but wanted a bit more of something
The gentleman of single malts
Nice and complex flavour, slightly peated at the end. The more I drink it the more I love it
A favourite of mine...well balanced..long flavours.
A good beginner's whisky. Full and round flavour. Could have been more intense, though.
Spicy, pepper and sweet fruitiness with a hint of salt. A quite intense and interesting choice.
Sweet and spicy with a gentle hint of smoke.
Mooie neus. Heeft tijd en een drupje water nodig. Smaak meer uitgesproken dan de geur. Fruit, zilt, drop.
Grainy and fresh.
oban 14
A bit smoky when drinking it neat for the first sip. With an ice cube, it transforms into a strong tang of fruitiness. It remains fruity for the rest. A fresh new taste for me.
Again a Diageo classic malt on my table.
The Oban 14Y this time.
This golden dram comes at 43% and is on the market since 1988. Made at a very small distillery in the western Highlands.
You can taste and smell the seaside in every part of the tasting.
The nose offers spicy alcohol along with summer fruits and a touch of peat smoke.
The taste gives you a smoked malty dryness and some sweet summer fruits.
The long gentle malty finish again offers some faint salty smoke.
All in all a very stable and advisable whisky. But in my humble opinion not the best one of the Diageo classics.
76 points.
Mild nose, more agressive, almost expanding taste
mild. smokey
Nice well balanced Highland single malt with a touch of smoke.
Mild smoke with hints of fruit and honey
Well balanced with a mild smoked taste over fruits and honey. Not an over powering profile for looking to get a taste of warm smoke this is a good place to start.
Warm toasty mild hints of spice. With a smoked peety finish.
sultana sweetness. some pear.
always a good bottle, but the 18 is better.
Nice mild smoky whisky, very palatable.
Very smooth and nuanced, great taste.
Nice and smooth
albeit a Highland, she has a medicinal start similar to Laphroig. So she takes u straight to the islands. Then becomes more "civilized", ends with typical Highland honey. Smoke is very decent throughout the phases..
medicinal
smoke
honey
caramel on the nose. Smelled sweet. smooth on the pallette. lovely.
nose of strong fruit, cherry, green apple, slight oak. Very clean palate, vanilla, a bit if oak, a little smoke, some fruit but less than I expected. A good one that's hard to dislike.
Honey and fresh fruit, no hint of smoke that I can taste. Pleasant aftertaste
Drakk den først litt for kald.
Kom seg litt med mer temperatur
ettersmak aprikos?
Average whiskey. Smooth with a hint of Smokey, but certainly not overpowering.
Bit smokey, not overwhelming. Not my first choice. Smells a bit like spiritus.
Licht rokerig, pittig, kruidig, super geil
this one needed to grow on me. At first I wasnt a big fan, but by the end it turned into a drink I quite enjoyed with a good balance
this must be one of my favorites. little smokey and sweet taste witch last for quite some time. a bit smoother than lets say talisker 10 yo
lightly smoky but not over powering. smooth. subtle on the nose.
supersmooth, vanille, pear? nice
in Ordnung
.
Bit smokey but not to overwhelming
this a great whiskey. easy on the palate
Mild, fruity taste and good body make this an excellent choice for a higher-quality dram for those who prefer the more sedate single-malts.
very drinkable with nice nose n easy palate
Poco torbato, abbastanza asciutto e facile da bere
fresh en light. easy to drink.
mooie en smaakvolle whisky.
Rich fruits the taste of oak and a little honey
Very smooth with a taste of honey and vanilla. Maybe the smoothest whisky I've tasted. Definetly one of my favorites!
A must have for my collection, very smooth with notes of citrus and honey.
very nice
my favorite whisky
zacht en een beetje rokerig
Heerlijke whisky, lekker zacht, smaak blijft lekker hangen
Very classy! I absolutely love this one. Nose: Lots of salt, some smoke, floral notes. Taste: salty, sweet, some dried "winter" fruits, oily. Finish: mid-long, again salt, comforting.
lots of salt, some smoke, floral notes, sweetness
salty, sweet, some dried "winter" fruits, oily
mid-long, again salt, comforting
An excellent scotch that I'll always have a bottle of in the collection. Not expensive but feels like you're treating yourself when you have a glass. love it!
nice, almost sweet
I really liked this. Has more in common with a speyside malt than a highland malt. Due to the location of the distillery O was hoping for a little peatiness, it wasnt to be but I enjoyed this. Very smooth, has a sweetness in mouth and subtle aftertaste.
i expected more, the bottles from early 2000 were sweeter and fuller. still, good price/quality
