tasted like nasty strippers
|Whisky||Wild Turkey 101 Proof|
tasted like nasty strippers
, doesn't taste like a 101 proof at all but Def burns a bit. Very Cherry vanilla
The smell of a carpentry workshop. The pros and cons are the same - it is too powerful and rough drink
varnish, glue, wood, fresh, sweet, caramel, vanilla, candy, corn, floral, citrus, fruits, berries, perfume
oiily, strong, spice, sweet, grass, oak, charcoal, perfume
heat, spice, oily
This one has both a strong bourbon and a strong rye quality. It's punchy, also mixes very well, and is the best low-price bourbon I've encountered.
I'm starting to think that when it comes to bourbons that I like Turkeys. The Rare Breed delivers more, but this is well above the bar.
cherries, vanilla, a bitter oak and some herbs
a thin mouthfeel that starts with cherries, spices and caramel
it starts with spices and some peppery burn going into an oaky tannic, then some vanilla at the end
Probably the best tasting whiskey for its price. Baking Spices, Vanilla, Heat, Caramel. I love it!
A higher proof point then its partner at 81 proof. Same 6-8 year age range of whiskeys blended together.
A much better improvement to its 81 proof counter. This isn't a bourbon for low proof drinkers but is great for sipping. The higher proof brings out some darker and richer flavors. And for $5 difference, you can't go wrong. A great casual sipper. This is worth the $5 price jump. Another reason why Wild Turkey is on the map for me.
Rating: 75/100, 1 point for value, this could have been easily a $30 bourbon and I'd still buy it, so 76/100. (Purchased at $27.99)
On the nose, Berry is immediate, with some honey, vanilla, and baking spice. Then harmonious scents lemon citrus, paint thinner with some Tobacco, caramel, and some coco.
On the first sip, rye is the focus with this high rye recipe with some chocolate, berry, caramel, and vanilla. Second Sip, Got some lemon citrus with some baking spice, honey, rasin, and vanilla.
The finish is more complex then its 81 proof counter part with some rye spice, rasin, berry, and coco. Medium-Short finish.
Schärfe, schwarzer Pfeffer, Caramel, Honig, Holzkohle, Muskat
Wärmende Schärfe, Süsse
nice caramel and toffee
bite, oak, rye, light vanilla, caramel
great for intro to proof
Sweet, Spice, sharp maybe from the abv, but still.. Vanilla and Oak, can feel the rye
strong bold simple Bourbon
Good alcohol to price ratio
nice Vanilla, and oak a sweet bourbon
Хорошо спрятан градус, дубовые ноты присутствуют, крайне удачный бурбон
Notes: Very rich flavor, complex enough to hold one’s interest. Pleasantly sweet and well balanced. Good for sipping neat, and possibly also mixed. My go-to Whiskey.
Slightly reminds one of George Dickel 12, but much much better. Also a lot like Buffalo Trace, and Eagle Rare but better.
Clean, Sweet, Vanilla, Marzipan, Caramel
Rye, Alcohol, Light Bitter, Sweet, Fruity, Caramel
Slight Bitter, Sweet, Marzipan, no bad aftertaste
Kwintesencja bourbona. Najlepszy jaki piłem. Słodycz, palona beczka i 50,5% alko. Trzeba spróbować.
Barrel #4 2020
Nose: 8/10 Sherry, clover barley malt, late maple. A bit of ethanol
Palette: 7/10 Nutty, butterscotch, pepper oak, maple, rye, a bit spicy
Feel: Smooth but hot
strong taste and proof makes it a good sipper.
great for the price point.
classic release from Wild Turkey. no matter what I try, I'm never disappointed to come back to this. best whisky for the price.
vanilla, oak, rubber
sweet, honey, oak, some spice.
pleasant long spicy sweet finish
Light nose. Excellent mouth feel but light on the palate. Finish is heavy char.
Less pleasant and stronger on the nose than WT81. On the palate char and oak, vanilla. Finish is little bitter and peppery. Well warming ;-)
bad rye taste, but no bad whiskey
sweet, crisp, spicy, daily drinker
Ok, this is good bourbon but 101 has the proof to put new people off. However for a bourbon drinker it gives plenty of flavours and warmth. Peppery on taste but finishes warm. Ideal with ice.
Nice nose, butter at first on the tongue. Vanilla comes across. High oil content. Great everyday drink
Honestly, underpriced. Great bourbon for the price point. Makes a great daily sipper.
Rye, woody, cinnamon Spice - overproof strong alcohol flavour
Still one of my favorites.
Kind of surprised me. It’s not amazing or my favorite, but for a kind of generic $20 bourbon it was better than I expected and affordable/good enough to sip daily. Not a special occasion bourbon but still solid.
Brown sugar/maple. Sweet. I don’t get much alcohol on the nose which is pleasant for this 50.5 abv
Oak/bitter (pleasing to me), rye spicyness, a good 5-15 seconds in my mouth moving it around my tongue and chewing it brings out some sweet vanilla and just a HINT of cherry from time to time. Ultimately coming back around to bitter oak.
Bitter oak. Pleasant burn. Pretty short though. I like the nose and palate much more than the finish of this whiskey, as it is a hair to bitter ( I like the bitter just not this much) all the way through it’s short finish or I would have given it another 2-3 points.
solid bourbon strong vanilla and spice really nice alcohol burn like smelling an oak kaleidoscope the deeper you breath it in the more colors you smell
The best bang for the buck, still one of my favorites. A budget bourbon with flavor that doesn't taste watered down.
Just a classic bourbon. Nothing special, but nothing offensive. The price and the proof make it my go to bourbon for old fashions. All the usual bourbon flavors: cherry, banilla, barrel spice.
out to dinner taste testing again
Really didn't get much on the nose... some spice and oak maybe
vanilla and oak... not bad for a 50 abv either
the spice and oak lingers.. not a very long finish
As always we start description about smell: sweet with notes of fried nuts, on the far nose there is an aroma of paint and varnish.
Next - the taste: corn syrup with bitter, typical for this type of bourbon.
After-taste: medium with notes of oil paint and cinnamon.
In general, this whiskey is very balanced and tasty in its high degree - 101 proof.
Inexpensive but flavorful choice
Caramel and wood, vanilla, sweetness on the nose
Semisweet toffee/butterscotch on the front of the palate, spice, oak, some dried fruits, a subtle nuttiness.
Medium finish with dried fruit and oak
Enjoyable bourbon, good sipper, keep it on my second shelf.
Nothing remarkable to me.
Nice mouth feel, tasty, but not remarkable.
initial spice that fades away into sweet vanilla. good for the price
orange, allspice and chocolate, maybe some plum
not dry. very sweet. not cloying but a nice quick burn going down.
quick finish. sweet with a small hint of bitterness in the back of the throat.
vanilla and caramel
A nice flavorful bourbon
Good all around bourbon for the price
good solid bourbon. not overly hot. shortish finish. excellent bargain
nose is s lot softer then the burn.
My toddy go to mix. Warms and clears the mind. Straight its got a bite, and you can feel it all the way down...
Nice burn. cleans the palate. dry oaky finish
3 minutes airtime
hot wheat corn burn, wet, grassy, tart, hot ginger burn, dry, black tea, bitters, salty, reisling, wet, cardamom, dry
4 minutes ride
Super underrated for the price. It’s harsh but holds a lot more flavor than people give it credit for. Not my first choice to drink neat but excellent for mixing. In a pinch I will take it over most bottom shelf bourbons. Peppery and strong vanilla notes. Oaky and not overly sweet.
one of my favorite around the house bottles
classical burbon taste, super intensive but smooth, strong and powerful, definetly great choice
Great nose, good feel and taste then just the right amount of burn that sneaks up for an enjoyable and fairly long finish. Very good judged on its own, excellent when the price is considered.
My personal favourite bourbon under 25€. Classic bourbon notes, nice oak and I love the higher ABV.
For the price and strength, very good.
After having so many whiskies, I've finally enjoyed the WT 101.
Pear, honey, orange, and light tobacco.
A mouth warming, woody apple.
Wet, grassy- cinnamon, with wood at the very end.
Nice bourbon. The sweetness eases the high alchol proof so it is easy to drink
Good go to bourbon for sure. Can be a little hot but has good flavor.
Vanilla and caramel with a nice spice note, a very solid bourbon and a steal for the price.
lot of vanilla. nice solid finish
schöne Vanillenote, allerdings auch deutliche Alkoholnote.
Preis Leistung passt aber.
Hot for my taste but a descent tasting bourbon.
heavy alcohol on the nose but also some oak and sweet scents. Carmel on the palate with a harsh finish but full of rye, oak and sweet flavors. good drink if you like it rough. a bit of water does smooth it out a bit and brings out some new flavors.
A little harsh and unrefined, but becomes quite pleasant with a bit of ice or mixed with anything.
On first taste I was greeted with an overwhelming coconut taste followed by a wave of vanilla and charcoal. The burn is present but not what I e would expect from a 101 proof.
2/22/15. 85/100. A really well rounded bourbon, with loads of vanilla, caramel, and charcoal influence. At 101 proof it drinks well, but a touch hot for most palates. Good body, lengtht finish.
My top go to. Mellow vanilla notes, fantastic flavor over all, lingering spice finish.
Excellent Classic Bourbon.
Kicks in all be the good ways. Very good straight up
tried and true, my go to.
Vanilla, spicy, bold, good burn and aftertaste. Try it neat and as a shot as well, wont be dissapointed.
intense spice with some softer vanilla notes...great finish
can't beat it for the price
vanilla and oak
vanilla, some bite.
One of the best bourbon $35 can buy. Complex and smooth. I like it best neat.
sweet with hints of cherries, maple and spice
maple, carmel and honey along with spice
smooth and long
Harsh in all the right ways. Severely underrated.
honey and flaural caramel and cinnamon
walnut, pepper, chicken burn/sear, oak and fire
salt, green tea, thyme, nugget slight pepper
sweet and peppery. good not great
$26.95 for 750ml.
good for the money. Makes me want to go out in the cold.
Very strong at first, opens a lot of flavours adding water, caranel, honey and black pepper.
Very complex and classic high rye bourbon flavor. Very approachable and smooth even with high ABV. It simply tastes like America in a bottle! Great value as well. Welcome to the top shelf Russel's WT!
Great traditional bourbon flavor. Nice balance of spice and sweet
A little rough at first but opens up to warm flavors and tones. I can see myself sipping this on a cold winter night to warm up.
Prominent wood, soft sweetness, just smells warm, vanilla
Got some bite, slightly salty caramel with spicy cinnamon,
Leather, charred wood, salty at the very end, heat stays with you
Big aroma of honey almond and strawberry finish. Taste is less sweet than the aroma suggests. One of my favorites. very close to Old Forester 100 with slightly more aroma.
honey, almond, strawberry
Wish I could appreciate burboun more but since scotch it's hard to go with something so sweet! This one has an awesome charred flavour, great neat/mixed if so inclined but too sweet for me to have regularly.
Overall pleasant, good mixing bourbon.
Acetone, pepper, oak, caramel
Sweet up front, warm and sharp
Malty, short lived.
Descent bourbon and cheap
Nice burn, strong taste and smell. one of my regulars in the collection.
Spice and heatover the wooded cherry. Classic that has been miscategorized, due to the proof. The current tend is higher proof. 101 has always been around. The
bite makes this a bourbon icon.
decent bourbon for the price. peppery spice with caramel and vanilla middle.
Nose hinted of caramel, oak, tobacco, cherries, and maple. Palate had strong burn but quickly dissipated to slow finish that had a briny and slightly bitter aftertaste. A dash of water brought out the rye and gave it a mellower character. Great bourbon.
A classic and a regular for me. Always wish it were a bit smoother, but flavors are dependably great.
spicey. perhaps best value in bourbon.
Daily drinker with very consistent quality
Fruity nose. Strong burn, with smokey flavor. Bitter aftertaste.
Goes great with a mild, sweet cigar
A classic. Caramel and cherries in the nose, Toasted oak and vanilla palate with some alcohol burn and finish can be astringent.
it's hard to beat a classic
Sweet carSweet caramel, bourbon spice, nutmeg and cinnamon. The vanilla is pronounced and brings with it some sweet cream. The wood is a bit hidden until you add a splash of water and then it rolls out next to the vanilla. rolls out next to the vanilla.
Sweet corn followed by vanilla and red licorice. Some citrus, a slight grainy malt and a bit of smoky ash round out the undiluted flavor. Add some water and the oak begins to express itself much more and the corn becomes even more prominent.
Carmel,grains ,and fruit
On the nose I get caramel and leather, fruitcake, cherries, and oak. The taste is cherries and berries, caramel, cinnamon, and white pepper. The finish is long and spicy with a dry oak.
Not much hint of alcohol on the nose despite being 101 proof, but it does remind me of a woodshop. Taste is medicinal and sweet with an oily and slightly bitter finish. Definite value but too many other bourbons to experience to keep me from coming back.
wood, oak, sweetness
medicine, herbal, sweet
oily and bitter
nose= Caramel, cherry
taste = can taste the heat right away but the flavor comes soon after, spicy, cinnamon, slight caramel, cola, herbal
added a little water, cool it slightly but increased the rye flavor. keeping at 82 but this could grow on me
Because of its availability, an low cost ($25 UDS) 'Turkey is likely one of everyone's first bourbons. That said, there are many other better bourbons if one just "sips" around.
A little harsh for my taste.
Good for shots, great for the winter..
A great go-to bourbon. My favorite for sure, lots of great memories.
nice vanilla and sweetness very good a bit of peper
Wow the vanilla is potent. Great bourbon for the price
starts sweet, then gets spicy which i love. one of my fav bourbons!
for the price it is tough to beat, good high rye bourbon that has the strength to hold up to rocks
Vanilla and caramel nose. Smooth. Nice everyday bourbon.
One of my favorite bourbons, and usually priced right. Strong and sweet, it's a whiskey one remembers.
one of my all time favorites.very sweet.
Strong, but tasty. Careful
