Smooth on the palet up from. Not a strong flavor. Then peppery as it lingers
Typical spiciness from rye. A little sweetness on the palette.
licorice
initial sweetness that leads into spicy. peppermint
more earthy/ oaky finish. medium to long
2021-04-18 Whiskey Tasting with Jim in Ohio. The evergreen "gin-like" flavors really came through this time, and I still liked it.
By far the worst bottle I’ve had. Tastes like it needed several more years in the barrel. I will say it was better after it sat a couple weeks but overall it sucked bad.
Really good depth
Herbal tea, a little mint, cinnamon
Spearmint, spicy, coats the mouth, sweet, but a little thin
Refreshing tingle, light spice, mellow sweetness
Good intro rye, will buy again
A Blend of Straight Rye Whiskeys. Ive always been a fan of High West. Bought this for 39.99. Good cheap rye, Rating 75/100, add a point for value so 76/100
Cinnamon and Baking Spice, Caramel, Berry, Sugar, Milk chocolate/coco
Spice, cinnamon, caramel, liquorice, cherry, baked goods flavor, little bit of a lemon citrus
Lemon citrus, Spice, Cherry, cinnamon
Great nose with hints of spice, pine, and mint. Smooth, lingering finish.
Very sweet, especially on the nose. Some interesting flavors like mint and pear underlying some caramel and rye spice. A good, young rye.
Very sweet, caramel, some anise and mint.
Mouth feel is a little bit thin. Caramel, pear, mint, rye spice. Maybe a bit of pine.
More of the caramel and pear. A bit of vanilla. Not too much heat, but the heat lingers longer than the flavors.
Spicy, herbal, mint
cinnamon, almost Dark fruit
best for me with an ice cube.
Doing a flight night of High West Whiskey...
Double Rye..so far the moar complex of them all... again very good dram, just not something I would keep in stock
Rye, Anise Rubbing Alcohol, Fragrant
Medium Mouth, mint, Licorice, orange peel, Spicey burn, Clove, Mince Pie, Dried Tea
Spicey Cinnamon, Salt,
Very smooth, less burn than a lot of rye's. Would definitely recommend.
Bad rye whiskey. Much better options out there.
Really smooth. I'd compare it to Angel's Envy but not quite as full flavored and oaky.
Very nice unique rye. Slight spice expected with a rye but not not strong. Slight cinnamon and have to mention the dill notes as well. Really enjoying this expression from High West and look forward to seeing how this bottle progresses.
a nice rye
I am not a big rye fan, but this is surprisingly good. It still has the, "giant hole" in it's flavor profile that seems to plague most every rye I have tasted, but HW still comes through with some good flavors. I am a big cinnamon fan and this rye is short on cinnamon and cloves. It has back of the month heat which is much preferable to the front heat that lesser drinks seem to provide. My rye of choice is the Sazerac 6yr(now NAS). It is full of cinnamon, has more flavor than HW, and is only $29. It is not as readily available, but it is a better value. I would like to try the HW Rendezvous Rye, but it is even pricier. I understand that rye leaves space in it's profile for mixologist to operate and fill in the blanks, but I much prefer a dram that is more ready to drink.
Spicy up front, strong dill pickle takes over and lingers.
I was very impressed. A great rye whisky.
My go to rye. Always delivers what I want with a rye.
Licorice and mint on the nose. Very heavy rye but what you would expect from this type of rye. It's definitely more of a younger blend with lots of herbals and a little bit of caramel.
peppery rye kick with all the herbaciousness you would expect. clove, anise, honey, lemon oil, rye bread, and white pepper. beautiful. does seem a little astringent at times.
Lovely Stuff. Not as spicy as i was anticipating considering the high rye content. This is the best rye ive had to date. Classy & Smooth. Reasonably priced. Have finished two bottles and will buy again soon.
I love the complexity and the evolution of this whisky. Smooth and sweet up front with a spicy kick on the back end. Only disappointment was the finish, which was short and pretty flavorless
Briny, cinnamon, dill, spicy marshmallow?, sweet
Spicy, caramel, smooth light brown sugar up front that gives way to the spicy flavors, vanilla
Spiciness stays on your tongue but sadly the flavor fades quickly, oak
Heavy rye.
Licorice is very noticeable on the nose along with clove and caramel - its unusual. Taste is honey sweet and slightly minty. Spicy medium finish with little burn but provides a nice warmth. Interesting double or blended rye concept and very good overall.
Great go to rye. Nice spice, but not overbearing. I’ve only had it neat, might be good in a old fashioned.
Sweeter than others. Great, a go to for me.
great spice and a clean finish
So good for the price. An amazing whiskey. Very smooth for a double rye
Pretty good stuff
