taste is very simple oak wood, butterscotch, slight malt, apple, Christmas spices and smokey.
red label is some what a family tradition as if there isn't any single malt a Johnnie it is.

harsh nose, maybe some honeyed malt under that harsh alcohol and gas note. barely tastes like anything at first, then a weak malt note. maybe some honey. then the astringent notes come back and lead into a short finish.
it's not interesting, which is better than being actively bad, IMO

I dont pretend to be Jim Murray. This is a famous whisky, cheap and well marketed for years, with great competition out there now. Its not a favourite. Perfect mixer.

Pamiętam pierwszy raz, ze dwadzieścia kilka lat temu, u kumpla wypiliśmy jego ojcu z 5l butelki na bujaku. Było to dla mnie obrzydliwe uczucie, jakbym pił płyn do odkażania podłóg. Do dziś, mimo kilku podejść, nie potrafię tego pić. Bardzo słaba.
Für Einsteiger zu empfehlen. Meiner Meinung nach sehr angenehm zu trinken, da er nicht kompliziert ist. Funktioniert wunderbar in Mischgetränken.
try Green label instead!
first i was afraid to try it - after 1st and 2nd glas on 2days its an "ok" whisky. it has a good mix of everything - doenst last for long. a taste of alcohol is a lil bit dominating but it gets away fast.
Very sharp taste. Some smoke coming through but no refinement at all (not that you can expect much from this I guess). After taste almost none-existent.
Will only use this as a mixer, but then again, there are much cheaper options if you're going that route.

Der Klassiker! Kein wirklich toller Whisky, hat aber als Basis für Johnnie and Ginger oder als Bestandteil von manch leckerem Cocktail- oder Nachtischrezept seine Berechtigung.
Wer von Johnnie red etwas anderes erwartet, wird zwangsläufig enttäuscht werden.
Perfect for mixing and at the right price point considering. Not really to be had neat, too thin and lacking in depth, although there is that trademark balance between sweetness and smoke. JW Black is more versatile, but if you're only after a mixer you can't go wrong with this.

In my home opinion, it's a typical whiskey. As it is full of oak fragrance, but grain alcohols destroy the whole bouquet. The aroma is simple and chemical (varnish, paint, building materials), but the taste is devoid of special shades (oak, drying oil, varnish). Finish is less than average.

My regular budget whisky. Sweet in taste. Excellent on the rocks. All negative opinions are just due to own taste preferences. I love sweet . Even I like it more than Black Label and JD as it produces the taste I love. Smoothness is not like Glenlivet. But as far as the budget is concerned, this is the best whisky one can afford any day.

This is a whisky with a very shallow taste. If you like whisky, then you probably won't like this one.
Got this bottle in 2001 for mixing at our wedding. Has its place, good for mixing and baseline whisky tasting. Now that I found myself into scotch it is interesting to go back and drink this neat. Not complex, basic blend with some burn.

Fine. The flavour isnt as delicate as many whiskeys that have been in the cask a tad longer. This whiskey can be used to mix up a drink. I also sometimes drink it purely - but for this purpose Id rather have the black label variant.

Very bland alone yet a great compliment to fizz if wanting to get pished quick.
Nose is barbeque.
Initial palate burned from start to short finish. Burn is more like red chilli peppers than grain alchol. 5 minutes airtime did not help. Splash of water and the burn turns into a oak charred steak with peaty mid that does not Spike with heat cools the palate and goes back to a long finish of charred oak slightly bitter. Cooled my guild. Made me feel full.

Standardowa whisky. Zwykły, prosty blend z nutą dymu. Nuty alkoholowe przebijają się przez cienką warstwę słodyczy i suszonych owoców. Dym nieco ratuje sytuację, choć w tej cenie da się znaleźć lepsze whisky (nie licząc częstych promocji).

Nose brings to mind wet clay or soil. Definately not a sipper, but works as a mixer.
My go to as a scotch mixer. Not that great for sipping, but it's cheap.
Sometimes you get offered a dram you would rather refuse, but out of politeness you don't. That was the case with this cheap 40% blend.
On the very sharp/agressive nose you get a slight hint of smoke.
The dry taste has only grain and again a slight smokyness to offer.
A finish is almost non existent.
I'm not disappointed at all, but that's because I had very low expectations.
I liked the black a lot more. This world famous one should only be used in combination with coke.
