Oh, this is a upgrade to black IF smoke is your thing. Smoke apparent on the nose and the pallet. Finish is short. Great for a mix. Nice age and balance
Thankfully we get the 43% here in RSA, but still didn’t change my mind about this whisky.
It’s not bad, and arguably a good way to get your novice mates to try peat… but yeah, completely and utterly forgettable in every way. For similar price you can offer said mates a dram of Highland Park 10yo for which I have yet to hear anyone new to whisky complain about (in fact most fall in love instantly)

Przyjemna, spokojna, lekko słodka (pewnie wpływ grainu), alk dobrze ukryty, trochę dymności, ale nie jakoś powalająco. Na niezobowiązujący wieczór przy serialu może być.
Smokey but smooth taste
Peaty taste, but milder and more buttery than the original Black Label.
Smoky
Smoky, peaty, wood
Oily, peaty, wood
A relatively palatable, but ultimately bland and simple dram. Fairly inoffensive, I would consider this a fine whiskey for a newcomer who has not developed their own palate preferences yet. There's just not much depth - I might even be tempted to mix it with coke (as sacrilegious as that sounds)!
Sweet peat. Vanilla. Cola. Alcohol.
Vanilla, honey. Quite bland.
Bitter smoke, spice
Different from his older brother
Very long, great lasting impression
A nice strong smoky character. Fruity flavour which is in a way reminiscent of liquorice. The afterflavour is strong but lacks the smoke identity so prominent in its initial scent.
Smoky blend with hints of dark chocolate and salt. Soft and slightly oily on the palette. Strong and long after taste.
Lovely whismey, I thought it would be too smokey for me but I liked it very much!
Defumado e suave. Gostoso.
Vale o preço no Brasil.
Smoky, peaty, warming
smokey, intense peat blend
leather, campfire, sweet
ash smoke, leather, vanilla, sweet
mild pepper
Geur van eiken, teer, rook en vanille. Eerst heel zacht van smaak, met een fijne rokerige ondertoon. Daarna komt het rokerige meer naar boven, met iets zoetigs op de achtergrond. Mij persoonlijk te mild.
Headstrong and bold, this is a great must try!
Całkiem niezła, dobry delikatny dymek.
2nd bottle. Easy and good.
Smell alcohol, not a good sign. First very nice Smokey taste. Few different flavors. Very little finish
Alcoholic, not a good sign.
First very nice Smokey taste. Few different flavors.
None
A nice smokey blend, very enjoyable nose to finish.
Smoke oak apple honey spice pepper
sweet and smoky on the nose, punchy smoke and a decent amount of sweetness on the palate
meaty earthy smoke, light sweetness, tropical fruit
ashy smoke, sweet, caramel, charred oak, toffee
slightly dry, pepper, charred oak, bitter
Found in a beautiful hotel in Madagascar, Isalo. Probably the score is influenced by the beautiful place. I hoped to taste it with the black 12 but they don't have it here, so the comparison is with the green Island (which I prefere).
Smoke, vanilla, honey, raisins
light
Very oily, more "dark" than the nose.
Again smoke, vanilla and hone + something like charred oak
sweet smoke, nothing complex here
Love the strong peaty flavour of this whiskey. Very unique taste.
salt and sweet, deep molt
This whisky is an ode to Man, by Man. This is a construction.
It's not the nectar that the gods of whisky gave to men by some happy combination of clear water, magnificent barley or some other specificities that gave whisky its personality and sense of a place.
No...oh, no. This is the work of Man, creating the drink the Man wanted, getting it as close as possible to His dreams.
Its appearance, body and feeling are wanted, created.
Now, I know that the purists like to get lost into the mist of a non chill filtered, no color added whisky, the slow descending tears of a cask strength, to travel and explore places with their senses.
But Johnnie Walker Double Black is not a whisky intended to do that. It is made to be your everyday go to whisky, from price point to ABV. It is a whisky made to interpret what people THINK what whisky should be, and not let people interpret the whisky, offering them on a plate an easy translation of their thoughts into reality.
And this is the key I chose for this whisky.
It is a whisky that I will always have in my home, it is a whisky I will always have when trying to unwind without giving it too much thought or attention. I will just enjoy it.
PS: Don't add water. It will significantly subdue its aromas.
PS 2: due to its made up fabric it is consistent from the first to the last dram of the bottle, bottle to bottle.
Appearance: color - amber, clarity - very clear, viscosity - nice legs on the glass but rather thin, wine-like.
Nose: light, sweet, medicinal, smoky, a hint of sherry, brine
Taste: sweet, woody, creamy
Finish: enough length, hint of smokiness and maltiness
Body: well rounded, balanced
light, sweet, medicinal, smoky, a hint of sherry, brine
sweet, woody, creamy
hint of smokiness and maltiness
Oak dark taste, short cycle, ok, not the best for my taste, not again, try several times and it is not my favorite at all
Nice nose, good amount of smoke but a little bit harsh on my tongue. Short finish.
ok
Double stand for double as good then the standerd black. Good smoke and wood taste. price is very good
smooth and mellow
Really smooth. One of the better blended whiskies i have tasted
peaty, smells like fuel
Niet slecht voor een JW. :) Drinkt makkelijk weg.
Zeker voor de liefhebber van peated een hele fijne blend voor een zeer betaalbaar bedrag
Nice whisky due to its price.
Rokerige en Romige whisky.
Super smokey. Not good for blending because the smoke flavor would be a little bit overwhelming. good on the rocks or neat.
Tastes like fire pit ashes. Quite possible the worst alcoholic beverage I’ve ever had.
smoky smoky. great variation to the classic black. smooth oak and cedar with smoke in the nose. follows suit on taste medium finish
light smoke, good price, go to for light smoke in the hotter months
smokey bitter smooth & aromatic scotch...
fin blended wisky, lukter møje røyk men smaker ikke så møje røyk. allt i allt okei
God røykt whisky
.
very smooth and smoky whisky... really enjoyed it
Very smoky
smoky scotch. strong finish.
Nice smokey flavor with a LONG finish
Got it because I like Islay whisky. thought it will be better than this
Smokey flavor came to mind when I drank this. Not complaining, but overall it was decent.
balanced smoke, wood and caramel notes. its blended but can go head to head with some single malts.
I'm not a scotch guy and don't feel any reviews I do would be fair. So I am just going to rate them based on cost and taste and expectations.
A very drinkable introduction to smoky whiskies. Not too strong and pleasantly round.
short finish. a good intro to smoke with a salt finish. decent bottle for $
Smokey, barbecue like taste. Smooth and leaves a great scent in your nose after you're done.
It's a very drinkable cheap bit of smoke. In a positive way. Collection staple.
Full of smoke with enough maltiness to keep it from tasting like a campfire in your mouth. No meatiness, more sweet than an Islay single malt.
nice smooth balanced blend, smokey, with tastes of Peat and leather
smoke, rubber, tar
smoke, Peat, leather, pepper,
fruit, vanilla,
As a peat fan, this is a great "basic" whisky to always have in the kabinet. Well balanced tastes.
Nice bit of smoke and smooth. Easy to like.
Smooth and well balanced blend with a smokey finish.
smoky in the smell, hint of vanilla too and very sutil yet tasty smoky salmon.
smoke
woody
hint of vanilla
smokey salmon
burned oak
peaty but sutil
burned wood and smoke
Love this, will be my go - to dram for a long time.
My favorite blend. Brings a big punch if Islay.
I just cannot get the taste for blended. For this price there are so many better options.
rich, flavoursome, smoky with a dark caramel aftertaste.
.
very good
smooth and smoke
Es un rico whisky, ahumado y muy bien balanceado.
sterke smaak. voor mij te sterk.
Great smoke flavour
I'm a little disappointed. Although i guess it is a fair blend considering the price.
Great smoky blend. Easy to drink and money's worth.
Lovely whisky. One of the better blended ones I've had. Nothing too fancy but a nice easy drink. At a reasonable price it doesn't feel like you're pouring so much money down your throat. Will definitely have again, hope to get another 1L bottle at Duty Free.
Smokier black label, more defined peat.
