If you like sweet, full flavoured whiskies, then Edradour's 8 Years Old Barolo Cask Matured should definitely be on your list. I think it would make an excellent wine-replacing single malt during (or right after) diner. I usually prefer whiskies with a spicy, smoky or salty bite, but this was a very tasty variation.
Quite sweet, with a perfumy undertone. Wild flowers and overripe gooseberries.
Very sweet. Nice mouthfeel. Raisins, violets, raspberries. Tones of nutmeg, pepper and cinnamon, but only in the background. Well balanced, but not with a complex depth. This whisky basically tastes like a sugared mash of flowers and berries.
Slightly spicy with dry oak, but the perfumy flowers are present here, too.
