Долго к нему присматривался, уж больно бутылка красиво сделана и оформлена. В итоге, Вудфорд оказался классным бурбоном, лучшим, что я пил до этого. Поставил его в один ряд с Баффало Трейс, достойны друг друга, но при этом довольно сильно различаются.
Тело и цвет приятные, ножки красивые, маслянистоть не самая сильная, но присутствует, что нормально для такого срока выдержки.
Аромат очень приятный. Сразу кукурузная сладость, карамель, ваниль (не сильно), корица, цветочные ароматы, при этом все на фоне мощного дуба, мёда и специй (мощных специй). Очень комплексно, и ничего не разваливается... классный аромат, который более острый и колкий, чем у большинства карамельных бурбонов, без излишней приторности и главное, без лака.
Вкус не менее интересный, такой же острый, прямо с буйством специй, много кукурузы и приятного дуба, сливочной карамели и ванили. Холодок от мяты на заднем фоне, и кислых яблок. При этом, это все по медовому сладко, но не так приторно. Именно такая сладость кукурузы, бондюэльная сладость.
Послевкусие, к сожалению, среднее, с нотами дуба и перечных специй, чуть-чуть сладости меда.
Очень отличный и шикарный бурбон за свои деньги.

A very nice and complex Bourbon that is not as sweet as the nose wood suggest (pun intended)

Nose

The Standard Bourbon nose: Dusty corn with icing sugar, vanilla and cherry (sweet fresh cherries). But I'm also getting a nice added oak spice and saw dust notes.

Palate

Sweet fruit and a slight tangy candy corn note. Vanilla rides next with a burst of energetic oak spice (think clove, white pepper and nutmeg) and butter. Then it settles into the finish

Finish

You can briefly taste the youngness to it but it is quickly enveloped in more mellow spice and toasted vanilla and charcoal from burnt toast. And just lingering on for a long time is charcoal and a little cherry

I find American bourbon can be very hit and miss. It's either below par or outstanding. Luckily Woodford Reserve Distillers Select is in the outstanding category.

Superb rich/dark oak wood flavour on the initial hit with a good taste of alcohol, not too much, but just enough. This leads way to smoothness and a creamy mouth feel with lovely sweet caramel and burnt sugar.

If you are new to bourbon skip all the usual stuff like Jim Beam and Jack Daniels. Pay the little bit extra for in my mind THE best entry level bourbon on the market.

Exceptional bourbon one which will sit in my cabinet for a long time to come.
