Lovely easy drinker with complexity.
Simple sip.
Sweet and estery
Apples, peppercorn and oak.
Light and fruity. Rather dry and flat on the finish.
Oily whisky, very intense fruity notes, green fruits, some pepper on palate.
One of if not my favourite fiddich's. The flavours and profile of this whisky are bang on. The alcohol strength of this brings it home strong. Buy it by the case if you can find it.
very smooth, easy to drink. Flavors pick up nicely on the back end
One migh expect a little more from a 15yo Glenfiddich regarding smoothness but this one is a little unique in its own way. A bit too much of a kick that asks for a dash of water to round it off. With the water this dram comes to life and offers a wide, pretty complex taste. I will need more time with this to truly get to terms with it and to grasp the palet better but for an experienced whisky enthusiast this will be worth giving a shot.
Nose
ripe, red apples with mild spices, (black) pepper, barley sugar, with a faint note of vanilla in the back. when adding water I found the apple and sweet spices moving more to the foreground.
Taste
The nose continuous with a thick, chewy, oily and syrupy texture. With water the barley sugar is more pronounced, with some sweet and sour notes and a salty touch I didn't pick up before.
Finish
medium long, dry yet sticky and warm. The sweet and sour / salty notes linger on. With some added water it becomes less sticky, but the salty notes get prolonged.
Comments
A very good price-quality ratio on this one. I picked up mine for € 43, which is a bargain really. It's not very complex, but firm, round and tasty. a solid 84 points are due here.
