Lots and lots of character for a whisky this young, although it won't be a character to everyone's liking. The outspoken leather and polish notes will be off-putting for some. Still, with longer cask maturation in a few years time, I'm pretty sure we've got ourselves an absolute gem in the making!
old leather, shoe polish, followed by peat
more from the nose, the texture is thick and "chewy". After the initial leather and polish blast, the peat kicks in stronger and is followed by a very nice signature Laphroaig taste - due to the maturation in Laphroaig Quartercasks.
