Great great taste
Half the age of the 16 but it is not half the flavour. this is a really fine lagavulin, a bit rougher around the edges then the 16 but delicious
The typical Lagavulin smoke (pine forest fire) cough syrup and a surprising amount floral notes for a lagavulin. Also a little citrus and forest berries. Finally there is a really nice salt water dock smell
A really nice sugary sweet leads followed by a slight maraschino cherry. Then comes a beautiful medicine and forest fire smoke.
A really nice spicy, warm and smoky finish. pepper.
citrus fruit and red apples
lingers on the finish
Smoked, salted meat with a nice bourbon barrel spice. Want this on hand all of the tine.
Smoked meat covered in salt. Beach bonfire. Something like a funnel cake at a fair.
Enters salty and thin then builds into smoked meat, gets sweeter with sugared citrus.
Spicy oak with lemon sweetness. Smoke lingers. More.
Great but delicate too for a lagavulin
i taste dry white whine
Light Peaty Islay,
Kind of one note but a very nice note it is.
Peat smoke, pear
Smoke, medicinal, very light Vanilla note a bit of honey pear
Sweetness, then alcohol burn, and smokey
smoke salt and vanilla sweetness
peaty
Peat and smoke forward, more so than Laga 16, more obvious with less complex but more exciting, fresh, with more tongue-tingling than Laga 16. Not sweet compared to Ardbeg 10 or Laphroiag QC, drier and more precise, surgical. Not sure I like that..
Peat notes well pronounced while it's smokiness is fairly balanced. Would be perfect to water it down to 43 or 44 alcohol
In der Nase unauffällig, Geschmack schön smooth, langer Abgang.
Don't expect anything like the Lagavulin 16 or 12. Completely different. More smokey and less peaty. Light finish.
A step down from the 16 and 12 year expressions, but not that far down the ladder. It still exudes that smoky sweet character that is notorious of the distillery, but unlike the older versions its just a bit less refined and not as complex. The wonderful chestnut smokiness is not as evident, but there's and nice oaky sweetness in its place - still very good though.
good, functional party whisky. weirdly similar to Ardbeg 10.
Shows more of the distillery character being a younger spirit, less oak and woody characteristics but epic smoke !
Lighter than 16 yr, just as intense and complex.
As a fan of the 16Y and the 16Y DE i was very curious about this one.
This 200th anniversary Lagavulin 8 comes at 48% and has a white wine appearance.
Nosing reveals heavy sweet peat, a bonfire of young wood slowly roasting meat.
A nutty and fruity part complete this very satisfying nosing.
The tasting has fewer components, but a nutty sweetness and nice oily smoke stays.
A little bit dissapointing.
But the very long spicy finish gets the score back on level.
A lingering warm spicy bonfire and a very nice sweet peat.
A nice one to try, but it won't replace the 16Y or 16Y DE on my shelf.
For the same money I would advise the older brother.
80 points.
Intense, quick, sea and salt, an Islay classic
tastes like a Highlands and Islay combo
peat and smoke. well balanced not in your face
a little salt initially but nice peat and smokey balance. like catching up with an old friend
Delicate yet with a personnality. happy birthday
not as rich as the 16 yo. A little sharp on the tongue in the beginning. But the taste is great. lots of peat and vanilla sweetness.
it has a very pale colour... no caramel added i think. maybe even non chill filtered.
Nice whisky
geht gar nicht
hated it. least favorite
Not as sophisticated as Laphroaig. Rougher taste but that's OK.
peat and smoke ok, but in my mouth it feels a little bit too fresh and new.....
Rauchig ausgewogene
Frische Noten von Zitrus und etwas Rauch. Dahinter die Erinnerung an Milchschokolade, Tee und Getreide. Leicht maritim.
Leicht trocken und dennoch sanft auf der Zunge. Süßer Rauch gibt Raum für eine zunehmende Schärfe
Langanhaltend und rauchig süß
As smokey, peaty punch in the face...
It's a little too smokey and peaty for my tastes, but if you like that sort of flavor then this is a good Scotch.
un regal
Nice, light peatet
interesting to taste a young lag, highly enjoyable although on this occasion I think I prefer the older standard release.
