Jim Beam Double Oak

Вообще-то я люблю бурбоны... некоторые даже сильно. Но этот мне не совсем зашел. Более того, мне наверное, базовый даже больше понравился.
Состав исходного сырья от базового не отличается: 78% кукурузы, 13,5% ржи и 8,5% ячменного солода.
От базового данный релиз отличается двумя вещами: во-первых, крепость повышена и составляет 43% алкоголя. Во-вторых, после основной выдержки в течении четырёх лет дистиллят проходит финиширование в бочках более интенсивного обжига от 4 до 8 месяцев на усмотрение мастера купажа.
Если честно я ожидал большего, исходя из крепости и более интенсивных бочек, но...

Итак, наливаем и смотрим...Тело выглядит великолепно. Очень красивый тёмный цвет и это при отсутствии колера! В плане цвета бочки сработали просто великолепно. В бокале тоже ведёт себя классно, маслянистый, с тонкими, но очень медленно стекающими ножками.

Nose

В аромате на первом плане дуб, жженая карамель и ваниль. Чувствуется лакокраска и специи, а где-то на дальнем плане рассол. Аромат очень похож на бурбонный, но совсем по другому здесь себя ведёт именно дуб. Как по мне, разбалансированый аромат получился, не укладывается одно с другим в какой-то приятный симбиоз. Получившаяся палитра не совсем моя.

Palate

Вкус под стать аромату. Во вкусе все таже карамель с ванилью, сильно чувствуется огуречный рассол вперемешку с лакокраской. И эти сочетания мне тоже не совсем заходят. Лакокраска такая, как будто у меня во рту ремонт... как будто побелка во рту. Что-то такое известниковое и не сильно приятное.

Finish

Послевкусие чуть короче середнего, перечное, суховатое, вяжущее танинами... Очень выделяются соленые огурцы, которые полили лаком. И все это, естественно, на фоне дуба, которое уходит в горелую головешку.

Многим нравится именно этот Джим Бим, наверное он и правда неплохой, но не на мой вкус.

Wood, warehouse type smell, not an industrial way but a woodshop way.

smokey, but sweet. Easy to put down, not much burn. The smoke lingers.

Finish

Again, smokey to me, that lingers a bit. To me it mostly smoke, it's not bad but fair warning if you don't like smoke this isn't for you.

the dry oak tannins linger on the tongue as it and the spice fade..leaving slight hints of vanilla on the pallet

This is a great tasting whiskey for the money. I just finished a bottle and miss it already. This whiskey is very well balanced and enjoyable to drink. the oak tones are strong but not too much so, the other flavors are noticeable but take a backseat to the smokey oak tones. There are only three things I need with a bottle of Double oak; Ice, a fine cigar, and good company.
