Spice and vanilla are truly noticeable. An immediate taste of heat but the finish is pleasant.
Sweet with a punch. This rye is one of those that make me enjoy ryes more than bourbon.
A decent ethanol bite that gives way to a nice rye spice
Sweet but spicy on the nose, palate, and finish. Packs a great punch. Very enjoyable if you don't mind the bite.
Sweet and spicy.
spicy aroma with citrus and oak. not too oily, nice finish. great rye
wow smooth, peppery, some sweetness, oak, caramel, bitter orange, little heat, very oioy
smooth up front. Nice bite on the back
For as high as the abv is this is pretty smooth. I did have it ove a large ice cube. I get a bit of salted caramel. On subsequent taste the alcohol starts to hit the tongue harder
Hot damn! Very good whiskey but man it is spicy and hot! Notes of vanilla, almond, and caramel with a long sweet wood char finish.
Vanilla, caramel hard candy, almond
Spicy, brings the heat, sweet at first but quickly transitioned to spicy heat, medium mouth feel
Tingling spice, oaky dryness, sweet wood char
Light floral and fruity nose. Sweet at the beginning with a dry spicy rye finish. Very nice for my collection, especially for the price point.
I like Rittenhouse rye which is 4 yr old and this is supposed to be same rye aged 2 more years. Very solid and delicious with great balance and a finish that gets sweeter and darker as it lingers longer than Rittenhouse which has shorter finish but younger, brighter start of palate. Some may want more spice heat but this is yummy as is and 110 proof provides useful power and burn compared to something like Lot 40 rye at 86 proof.
Very nice, flavorful rye
Chocolate flavor, sweet and subtle spicy taste, rather softy
great flavors of vanilla and spice, but a strong alcohol burn as well
Super solid rye. Lots of rye, vanilla, and caramel. It is a bit hot, but not in an offensive way. Long enjoyable finish
nice cinnamon smooth spicy
Surprisingly smooth for 110 proof, with much less burn than I expected. Spicy and floral on the nose with some allspice and caramel on the pallet with a medium finish
Spicy, with vanilla and cinnamon - prefer with touch of water to open it up and cut the alcohol burn
I was expecting a heavy alcohol note on the nose due to the high abv, but it is barely evident. The nose gives off caramel, fruit, and spice. Honey and cinnamon on the taste with a spicy finish that produces burn. Adding water reduces the burn and brings out buttery caramel. Excellent rye whiskey and well worth the price.
caramel, honey, fruit, spice, oak
honey, caramel, spice,
Spicy with some burn. add water.
Didn't care for it the first taste but it has grown on me as I've gone though the bottle. Still, I prefer Rittenhouse BIB over this and it is half the price
An instant favourite - don't hesitate to pick up a bottle or two if you can find this.
very good rye and extremely drinkable and smooth at the higher proof, very enjoyable
This is some excellent stuff, one of the best ryes I've ever tried. Sweet, peppery and creamy at the same time.
Vanilla cream and oak reside under a big, heavy blanket of peppery rye.
Very creamy. Pepper, oak, cherry liquorice, gingerbread, chilli and blood orange.
A long, velvety mix of vanilla syrup and peppery toffee. Very nice.
