General description

What a neat whisky. It starts in the mouth light, watery, and young, but also fresh and fruity. As you keep it in there and swish it around it gets darker, thicker, and creamier. The fruits include, at least, melons, plums, bananas, pears, cherries, and pineapples. The fruits then taste as though they're being grilled, smoked, and mashed, while salt and white hand moisturizer are added and some incense is wafting in. Then, in the finish, it Benjamin Buttons, slowly returning back to fresh fruits. It's a fun dram.

Beautiful example of Japanese whiskey. comes across more like an Irish pot still whisky. very sweet, almost like its a lightly sherried whiskey. Sweet apples, dried apricot, little hint of cinnamon baking spices. You can't even smell the smoke untill after your first sip then it shows up as a soft not to overpowering smoke. I just wish it was cheaper.

Delicate peat. Peach and white grapes on the nose. Smooth vanilla Palete. Creamy finish. It's a good whisky, especially if you don't want funky, peaty, and weird. However I want funky peaty & weird!!!

General description

Such a subtle whisky. Has notes that sound harsh and unpleasant, but aren't, like tobacco, peat, and leather, but also some fresh notes of lemon and ginger. Some wood notes and herbal notes as well. Overal quite sweet but well balanced with the peat, some saltiness comes in to finish the sip. Not a challanging whisky at all, but there is a lot when you want to look for it. The only thing weird about the whisky is the random 45% abv.

Picked up a sample of Miyagikyo to compare to Yoichi. I prefer the Yoichi slightly over the Miyagikyo. The smoke really stands out and although it retains similar sweet and delicate characteristics the balance of smoky and sweet flavors is very tasty.

Unbelievably gentle whisky; this isn’t a malt to test your senses but if you want to just just sit back and relax then this is what you need.

Good whisky complex yet well balanced. Body tends to be on the full side. Moderately smokey but with sweet finish. Good choice for the money you pay for it in Japan.
