v.Good, but not great. felt a little underwhelmed, given expectation, exclusivity and price point
Aged in bourbon casks. Non-chill filtered.
In the nose very complex, it's smoky, powerful, intense yet mild and elegant. This velvety delicacy of aromas despite plenty of alcohol is very special. The palate is mature and calm, oily and soft, powerful and slightly astringent. It impressed me with its strength, solidity and depth of flavor. I really like that smoky dryness, the smoothness and balanced mouthfeel... Slight tingling on the tongue...🤗 Phenolic sweetness, which is so typical Laphroaig... Medium body with a nice silk feeling that’s elegant from start to finish. The finish is soft and oily, long warm fade of spice and iodine.
Overall, an excellent mature Islay single malt with a rich maritime character. It's a pity that this great stuff isn't available anymore.🙁 And it's very hard to find...

N-23, P-23, F-23, B-24.
soft smoke, peat, vanilla, pecan nut, honey pear, seaweed, iodine...
smoked fruits, salt caramel, mild oak tannins, stewed prunes, slight mocha touch...
bitter dark chocolate, hints of dry herb, some pepper, hazelnut, vanilla, delicate iodine...
This is why I keep trying new whiskys. Maybe the best Laphroaig Ive had. A slight touch better than the 15 yo Cairdeas.
This is the middleground between the complex mature 27 yo and the 10 yo we all love.
A nice rich taste. The smoke is a little less intense as with the 10yo but overall the flavor is more complicated/aged. A bit to expensive perhaps but if you can get your hands on a sample... it is a must try for fans of smoky whiskys.
Bit Smokey, not strong enough for my liking, lacks that kick I was expecting
Very nice, but sharp taste. Also a bit expensive for what you get.
Simply put, the best whisky I've yet sampled. Granted, my experience with top shelf whiskys is very limited, but I believe this expression of Laphroaig's core brand would compare favorably.
smoky and rich
Rauchig, salzig, Eiche und eine gewisse Süsse. Schöner langer Abgang. Top Whisky.
Rauchig, salzig, Eiche und eine gewisse Süsse.
Intense peat and smoke, good, even very good, but not overwhelming. A little too expensive for what you get.
Erg lekker.
