candy caramel apple nose. creamy butterscotch pudding. earthy finish.
Caramel apple. vanilla icing. clove or cinnamon.
butterscotch pudding. vanilla. creamy.
earthy / woodsy finish. oak trails to the end.
A barrel proof offering from Brown Foreman. NAS. Lots of heat. Complex, but with some off flavors when you first open the bottle.
Maraschino cherries, Fudge, stewed apples, cinnamon cloves. A bit of oak and leather. Medium heat.
Lots of heat. More maraschinos and fudge. Some other fruit like apple and Celestine. Almost reminds me of an old fashioned. For like the first month this had this overpowering off flavor that made it taste like cherry gasoline. Luckily this seems to have mostly dissipated.
Ooh that burn. Maraschino cherries come through even more prominently, but with some bitterness like 100% cocoa powder.
Higher proof and stings a little, but less than you expect. REALLY like this one
Caramel, vanilla, cinnamon
All the nose plus a little chocolate
Some chocolate in the finish, decent Kentucky hug
Leggy with a mahogany-brown color. The aroma is milder than expected for 115-proof: molasses, toffee, honey. Mild finished mahogany. Brown leaves and an unraked forest. Rye/cinnamon spices; it comes off a little like a mild curry.
I highly recommend letting it sit in the glass for about 10 minutes to let the really heavy fumes waft their way out. With a few droplets, the sugary aromas bloom and the heat drops in the nose significantly. The cherry juice also busts out.
The burn hits you in the first sip, in a big way. The first sip burns the tip of the tongue, behind your bottom teeth, and on the way down, where the very first sip reminded me of bright orange cough syrup.
The second sip is dry finished wood with the sawdust still on it. This is nearly impossible to maintain straight, so adding a little water is a must here. Even with a few drops, the burn is no joke. It's a physical alcoholic burn, not so much a spicy one. These flavors are much more pleasant diluted with a few drops from the Brita.
The finish is straight up tobacco ash, with a spicy cinnamon and almost chili-pepper flake burn. This thing is a beast: it is chock full of flavor but it's quite challenging. It's really no wonder they banned alcohol in the '20s.
Strong rich straight bourbon whiskey.
Adding a couple drops of water really mellowed the alcohol and brought out the caramel, vanilla, and cherry.
Vanilla, cherry, leather, red apple, spices
Spicy and rich apple and cherry pie.hot alcohol forward. Chocolate. Oak.
Oak. Cinnamon.
My new favorite bourbon.
N: the proof jumps but can still smell the cherry.
T: still taste the cherry but with pepper.
F: long and spicy but finished like a chocolate stout beer.

F: long and spicy but finished like a chocolate porter beer
Intense taste. Sweet, caramelized, toffee taste after you get past the spice & tingle. excellent finish.
an absolute favorite so far, new to the bourbon world have tried a few so far this is awesome pour
Strong, good flavor.
Nose of vanilla and caramel. Intense mouthfeel with hints of cinnamon and caramel. Finish was robust with an initial spike, and then slowly faded. Overall, a complex and very enjoyable bourbon.
Sour Cherries. Vanilla. Spice.
Oily mouth feel. Toasted oak finish
dark cherries, vanilla, very oily, smooth, sweet caramel
more spicy then expected but high proof
chocolate fruit and Sweet
nice hot then settled down and good hug. sweet Rick and nuts on the backside
warm spice and pepper
Hot but with good flavor
initial bite mellows out quickly. Semisweet, dark fruit, smooth, dry finish
A good, strong and smooth bourbon.
very nice bourbon. worth $60?
not so sure. I still like woodford Reserve at half the price at my liquor store. nice slight bite and burn; (which I enjoy ) just don't know if its worth the bucks I paid
smooth, well balanced bourbon
Really good bourbon. Bold flavors of cherry, caramel, molasses and vanilla and rounds out with a long, spicy, leather kick. A must try for sweet-bourbon lovers.
Big cherry, caramel, molasses, vanilla, sweet (cake batter?)
Cherry, syrupy mouth feel, full bodied, caramel hard candy, bit of a spicy bite, a little heat
Wood, leather, char
good flavor, nothing exceptional.
Smooth and filled with a wonderful caramel flavor
sweet and quite spicy with a medium mouthfeel. the spice and abv called for a small cut of water to make it more pleasant.
The one that has most impressed me to date.
Lots going on with this bourbon. Surprisingly smooth at 57% abv. Lots of caramel and appropriate brown sugar sweetness upfront; followed quickly by tobacco, leather, and spice.
Never too astringent (despite the abv), this bourbon is a complex and tasty sipper.
Rich in body and flavor. Unobtrusive sweetness. Complex enough to really savor each sip.
I'm definitely looking forward to picking up more.
smooth. very tasty
Very impressive. Surprised.
Cotton candy, butterscotch.
Butterscotch, cotton candy, Easter basket. Peeps.
So nice. The slight burn comes way at the end love this and would recommend it to first time bourboners.
My favorite every day sipper. Great complexity.
smooth, nice caramel flavor
dry caramel finish
Smooth even 115 proof
Sweet brown sugars
Sweet caramel, Iight oak, and vanilla
slightly sweet with after burn
Very nice bourbon. Good balance of spice, sweet and vanilla. ABV 57.5%.
Sweet, smokey
This is GREAT! I actually feel sorry for other bourbons trying to compete. Hot but smooth. Flavor, flavor, flavor. Chilled water sweetens and opens up the floral notes. This is a go to if Blanton's is unavailable at the same $60 price.
Wow, this is now my favorite bourbon to sip on. outstanding from start to finish.
neck and neck fighting for my #1 bourbon
Currently my favorite Bourbon.
Dried Fruit, Caramel, Floral
Salted Caramel, Citrus, Spice, Nutty. Heavy Mouthfeel
Oak and Spice with a lingering burn
Old Forester 1920 is (was) my first foray into high ABV bourbon. At 115 proof, it can be had neat, but drops of water help the flavors to come forth. With time and two drops of distilled water, blended flavors are revealed, but four may be too many.
Mash Bill: 72% corn, 18% rye, 10% malted barley.
Tasting Amount: Two shots
NEAT: All flavors are well blended, none stand out.
TWO DROPS: Floral at first, then clove, and after 10-15 min. almost exclusively vanilla.
FOUR DROPS: Toasted oak and a hint of sweet cherry/almond. With time, sweet toasted graham cracker comes forward.
NEAT: Nice warming bourbon feel, but few if any discernable flavors beyond the slightest hint of dark fruit.
TWO DROPS: Subtle banana and bitter citrus. Big vanilla and maple syrup shines through the longer the bourbon is left to open.
FOUR DROPS: Clove spice followed by sweet graham crackers dipped in maple syrup. There is cherry there too, but more of an almond cherry flavor. Dark fruits only appear after the bourbon has been left to open.
Warmth. Little if any lingering flavors regardless of the amount of water added.
The mouth feel is only slightly oily.
Great job Brown- Forman
slow to open, then pops
strong, woody, fires the tastebuds
strong relaxing fun
91, light nose, rich full bodied, deep not too complex, dark caramel, rich vanilla, unique finish. medium short
Appearance: Copper, oily, thick legs.
Nose: Tobacco, leather, sour green apple, maple, chocolate and just a hint of banana
Palate: butterscotch, caramel, dark chocolate, thick mouth coating and oily.
Finish: green Apple, Cinnamon, vanilla, nuts and oak. The finish is like enjoying a fresh slice of homemade apple pie.
Caramel and it was beautiful. highly highly suggest
bitty, but will grow on you. Woody and medicinal.
Takes some time to open up. Some mild wood pulp, fresh up front. Some citrus, like bitter orange. Thick mouth feel, short dry finish.
