One of my favourites. I prefer it to many 12yo single malts! A very pleasant aroma and taste, dominated by wood, oak. Nothing sweet, no candies, no sweet fruits, which I like. For me this whiskey is associated with deep forest.

Виски был назван в честь известной в Британии картины английского художника сэра Эдвина Ландсира - "Монарх из Глена" (что означает "Монарх долины"), на которой изображён величественный и гордый олень. Интересно так же и то, что мастером купажа является женщина (Стефани Маклеод). Купаж Dewar's The Monarch состоит из 40 спиртов, выдержанных в разных типах бочек не менее 15 лет. Сердце купажа - солодовый виски Aberfeldy. После выдержки происходит купажирование и отдых в течение ещё одного года.
Я пил релиз 2016 года и м.б. поэтому я не заметил много зерновых, да и послевкусие довольно среднее, а не короткое, как часто бывает у блендов.
Тело довольно маслянистое, ножки устойчивые, но довольно тонкие. Виски подкрашивается и проходит холодную фильтрацию.
Аромат приятный и характерный Дьюрсам. В нем нет никакой спиртуозности. Встречает сильным медовым ароматом, со сливочными и кондитерскими нотками. Очень хорошо выражены цитрусовые. Чуть позже хорошо выступает цветочный луг и травы... я бы сказал сушеные душистые травы. Чуть позже проявляется бочка и орехи. И все.. далее аромат не развивается.
Вкус словочно-кремовый, не забористый, но а отличие от аромата, присутствие зерновых спиртов чувствуется очень даже, особенно их резкость. Четко проступает ореховая тема, есть немного компотных нот. И на финише очень хорошо выступает сушеная луговая трава.
Финиш не выдающийся, но не особо короткий. Явно выступает древесная тема, с орешками и мощными специями. Чуть-чуть на языке остается привкус грецкого ореха, который вместе с перечностью сходит на нет.

1 litre, Gold Tin container, Blend. I found it to be very nice in my early days - Duty Free off a cruise ship; great value either way. Nice body & colour. Not a drop left, drank it like a cowboy, no real written notes taken, but I did mistakenly review it as the 12 yr old. Its worth a shot, as is the entire Dewars range I believe - I enjoyed it.

Super fruity and light. Very smooth, but a bit warm on the finish. amazing with a tiny splash of water
The nose is coconut and salty butterscotch. Decidedly tropical and creamy, like vanilla and toffee. There is some barrel wood oils, followed by jasmine and heather-y florals. It's a bit sulphuric too. I'm not in love with the aroma, but it isn't unpleasant. Coconut dominates.
The taste is piña colada and more coconut. The creamy vanilla has a sharp, bitter second wave: barrel tannins with just a hint of bitter sherry. A droplet of water does wonders, letting the vanilla bloom and sweeten up.
The texture is slick and oily, and it doesn't disappear easily.
The finish is a sharp, bitter flavor that isn't quite doing it for me. Barrel char, tobacco ash. A plastic toy set. It's all just way too harsh for something aged a decade and a half.

Very mild and smooth. Some chocolate on the nose , spice malt and chocolate on palate.

Very smooth and balanced while clearly retaining Scotch charateristics. My favorite blend.
