so good
distillery visit
Sherry, oak, figs and marmalade
Gentle, gently fruity with a lot of dark chocolate.
So fragrant and rich, deep sherry. Mouth watering, complex flavors, layers of fruity sweetness. Finish is the highlight, lasting very long, with the sherry and complex flavors intermingling
Tasty Speyside with a bit of smoke and sherry.
Rich sherry honey
Smokey sherry,Speyside malt
Honey malt, damp newspaper
very good. sherry and fruty and soft but rich in flavors.
on the nose red fruits, strong, caramel, cloves and a very nice hint of smoke.
smooth on the palate with strong spice, oak and again that bit of smoke.
finish with a slight bitter oak
a very nice whisky with lost of sherry influence. and a hint of suprising smoke.
on the nose i get red fruit and caramel , nice spices and christmascake also a hint of smoke.
on the pallet of is soft and there is a lot of spices and sherry sweetness. finishing with some oakyness and a little smoke
very good
Glendronach has too much European oak for my taste. This one is really enjoyable, but still too dominant oak in it.
Wonderful complex sherry nose. Much more laid back and balanced than the 12yo. Very sweet with cherries, brambles and a slight note of mint cooling. Juicy peaches and vanilla. Also spicy with cumin.
Spicy, salty, smooth. Is there peat? Tastes a bit smoked.. Roast hazelnuts and dark chocolate.
The finish is salty and oily and lasts some time. For my taste there's too much harsh oak bitterness again, just not so punching as in the 12 that I just had. But I highly appreciate the more settled age.
sweet, cherry, raisins, just a bit of spiciness, very long rich finish
Nose: raisins, chocolate cherries, leather
Mouth: Sherry, walnuts, chocolate orange, coffee
Finish: long and spicy, warm. date, raisin aftertaste. decadent.
reely lovely, sherry,Orange, ginger, dark chotolate, valnuts. love the collor too
Sweet at the begining, spicy in the mouth with sherrybomb at the end.
Couple drops of water and its not that much spicy and the sweetness disapear but still good sherry taste.
This whisky must be enjoyed over time.
Heavily sherried Scotch can be tough to discern other flavors and complexities due to obvious sherry, fruity oloroso sweetness in this case. But along with oloroso, there is creamy oak, dried figs, raisin, and salty, savory something oily. I doubt casual drinkers will think this is much better than Abunadh at half the price, but there is more to dig out of the malt.
op de neus:
rozijnen, studenten haver, hout, chocolade
op de smaak heel anders, citrus, nasmaak heeft iets kazigs
Sweet, with fruity notes at the begining, then appear roasted dried and spicy notes, a little bit dry at the end.
delicious
rozijnen, sherry, koffie
zoet, zacht
pittig en lang
My god only € 70 but worth way more! rich and bold flavours. sherry all the way!
malte fume bold.
bold flavour. full sherry. great watered down.
top
Sherry Bombe
The great Kerry Packers choice of tipple. . . and after trying some . . im hooked . . . very easy on the palate . Hard to stop at one . .
Rich, excellently aged, rounded character. Thick sherry aroma carries through well onto the tongue. Finish is extremely smooth, subsiding possibly too soon. Excellent whisky.
Rich sherry, butter, sultanas, brown sugar, ginger cake spices.
Rich. Spiced rum, fruit cake, honey, gentle sweetness, barley.
So smooth, gentle warmth. Berry fruits from the sherry.
I had this once in the past and enjoyed it immensely. For which reason I bought another bottle as I started making a humble collection. Its very fruity and sweet. A very good whisky. Slightly holding back on the sherry flavour, not making it too intense.
sherry,fruity,sweet
Pflaumen breit.
wonderful
perfect with one piece of ice in the glas!
herausragend in der Reihe. Geschmack und Alkohol stimmen
veldig god. Drakk denne med tidligere forsvarsminister
Zu Recht ein großer Hype um diesen tollen Sherry. Noch zuschlagen solange es geht.
The nose is fairly sweet with Sherry, fruit, raisins, and dark chocolate. Dark chocolate and orange peels are noticeable on a very Sherry influenced palate as well. Finish is dry, slightly sweet and spicy. The Sherry influence is evident throughout. Enjoyable dram.
bitter chocolate, sherry, fruit, raisins
dark chocolate, sherry, fruit
sweet and dry
not very solid its body...21 much better
Quite sweet, but not that full bodied and tasteful as expected
Finally I layed my hands on a sample of this one. On forehand this is a whisky as whisky should be.
A higher (46%) abv, uncoloured (almost dark brown), unfiltered and aged for 18 years.
Actually it seems te be a lot older. The distillery was closed between 96 and 02, so this 18Y is about 4 or 5 years older than stated.
For more info on that check the well writen article on wordsofwhisky.com.
Glendronach founder James Allardes (Allardice) was assumably the first guy who started with the finishing on different casks. So we owe a lot to him.
OK lets start the tasting.
Only (oloroso)sherry casks were used so you can expect a very rich sherry fruityness. And that is exactly what you get.
Along with sweet orange, spicy oak, and a coffee/chocolate bitterness.
The syropy/oily taste has a lot to offer. Oloroso fruits/oranges/chocolate/oak and a mouthwatering all spice.
The very long, heavy and complex finish gives you vanilla/toffee/dark fruits/dried fruits and different spices.
I come short of superlatives to describe this one.
Sublime/perfection/masterpiece/top of the bill, all do justice to this bright shining jewel.
I think this one is king of sherry whiskies as far as I can say.
And if you buy it you get an adittional 4 or 5 years for free.
Can't wait to taste the 21Y(which is actually about 23Y).
Highly recommended!!!!

I will surely get a full bottle for my collection.
If you grab a 12Y, bottled in 2013, you get the maximum 6Y bonus. So you buy an 12Y that is actually 18Y!!!!
Go get one!
Next year you can buy the 18Y with the maximum 6Y bonus.
I've expected more of it. not so smooth as other 18yo..
Great sherry malt.
Maple brown appearance, subtle nutty aroma with essence of fig, burnt sugar, luxardo cherries, opens up to charred orange and raisin tones; palate of clean sherry tones, not syrupy, good bite, orange chocolate finish. Dessert quality nip!
Sweet, fresh and fruity. A lovely taste of old sherry casks. This has a well grown up taste, beyond the 18 years stated.
okey
Mein Favoritlecker Schokolade mit Sherry sehr gelungen

87 pretty well
