General description

Nice dark color, fresh & sweet, bourbon like nose and the taste matches, but with a grassy spice. Nice, but short finish, bitter wood way back, but nice in the collection. (another Rye). I like the "pre-prohibition" name ??. Acceptable budget drop. Ice did it no harm. 👍

Nose

Its sweet & "grassy", maize like. Bourbon notes??

Palate

All the above again. Spicy??

Finish

Too short but really nice with a bitterness on the end.

First RYE whiskey I ever try.
I like it though. I will edit my review once I try another RYE whiskey.
As for now, it has a very oak presence, kinda similar to extra aged jim Beam, but more spicy and harsh ( due to Rye).
very sweet on the nose.

A cheap rye that doesn't really impress. And for most Rye based cocktails, you should look for a higher ABV. Ity's not undrinkable, but if you are looking for an affordable way into Rye, get the Bulleit.

General description

this whiskey was my introduction to Sazerac cocktails made at home. I quickly tried other ryes and never reconsidered this version.... moderate rye spice. lacking a little in the peppery notes. I right decent sweetness. it lacks the body and oiliness of some other ryes. in this regard I is reminiscent of Crown Royal Northern Harvest another good rye that lacks body. it finishes nicely with pepper since lingering... This Rye whiskey would serve as a great introduction to the wonderful world of Rye. Ita flavor gets a wee bit lost in even a basic cocktail, like a Sazerac or Old Fashioned but the distinctive pepperiness remains, with a sufficient amount of fruit, sugar and spice to suggest better things ahead... the budget drinker or newbie should venture a try. would I but this again? yes from time to time

Nose

it's $22 a bottle. this isn't a rye for satisfying the probiscus it does however make a decent cocktail. it satisfies a budget and for anyone trying an Old Fashioned, Manhattan or Sazerac at home would serve as a decent introduction

Palate

thin... lacking a bit in body. cinnamon and Clove up front, vanilla and cherries nestle underneath.

Finish

the finish is pepper spice... lingering without much else to add the nuance found in better Rye whiskies.
