General description

I’m not a fan of Jack Daniels….normally. But this rye has brought me around. Interesting enough, when I tried to get a glass of this on the cruise ship that I was on. They were charging about $20 a shot on this. Which is crazy, because I just bought a 750 ml of this the week before and it was only $27. But I think that it may change as people come to appreciate it more.

Oh damn, this is a nice and enjoyable rye whiskey. Rounded and sweet in taste. Slightly thin body. I may enjoy it neat, on the rocks or with ginger ale. A real all-rounder. I recommend.

My first rye whiskey. I am very surprised about taste. Great balance between sweetness and piquancy.

some decent pepper notes on the nose, slight brown sugar and caramel under the spice. palate is a pretty standard and decent rye - brown sugar, caramel, pepper, then a finish that starts with some dill then the spicier brown sugar. not bad at all.

You know what, I like it. I don't care for No.7 straight but can drink this with ice. Not any smoother than No7 but different taste. I get it on sale and not a bad value.

General description

The banana notes are unmistakable and completely unexpected in a spicy rye. It is an interesting rye and not in any way unpleasant. This Rye with it's fruit forward (banana) allows a bit of grassy dill notes shimmer through. This is a very light, somewhat sweet and fruity rye. Enjoying rye in a Sazerac cocktail paired up with Peychaud's Bitters it is not an ideal match as the Cherry, Clove and light cinnamon of the Bitters is not ideal suited for a rye with such an undeniable banana profile. An Old Fashioned may fare better...
Would I purchase this Rye again? Yes, if I were intending to introduce the pleasure of whiskey and Rye in particular to those unfamiliar to whiskey altogether. It's light fruitiness and subdued spice are completely unintimidating.

Palate

banana forward some great dill

Strong nail polish remover and acetone on the nose. Taste is very different, very light for a rye and almost dainty with vanilla and banana notes topping the palate. Smooth finish that ends with a spicy kick typical of rye, which procrastinated a bit before showing up. Despite the strong nose overall very light for a rye.
