About

Aberlour Distillery is located in the small town Aberlour, in Strathspey, in the Scottish Speyside whisky region. Aberlour produces several age stated whiskies, usually from 10 up to 18 years old, but is mainly known for its often-praised and heavily sherried A'bunadh whisky.

General description

General description

I like it really much! It's dark and woody and powerful. The feeling on the tongue is like charred sawdust. Really strong and interesting stuff!

Nose

A voluminous, spicy, oily nose full of plums and raisins, cardamom, cinnamon and sandalwood. A bit biting alcohol.

Palate

Dark and dry taste after dried fruit, roast hazelnuts, vanilla, caramellized brown sugar and strong liquorice. Dark chocolate and almonds in a drying, velvety mouthfeel.

Finish

Woody oak and dark chocolate, lasting long and intensively.

General description

A nice mix of sweet fruit and spicy nuts. Not a heavily sherried malt (which is a big plus for me) and bottled at a decent abv. Good value for money.

Nose

Fruity, with pear, red apples and peach. Caramel, cinnamon and notes of gingerbread.

Palate

Sugared coffee, raisins, sugar coated nuts, pepper and ginger. The sweet and spicy notes are nicely balanced.

Finish

Butterscotch, dark chocolate and traces of slightly bitter artificial strawberry.
