Batch 1 & 3 are pretty similar, though with more cooking spice and less sweet. Notes on batch 3: Dill pickle juice, red licorice, sandalwood, smoked mild hot peppers, salted butterscotch, dried green apples, cardamom, tarragon, rye bread, pecan pie, some roasted marshmallows, the aftertaste of black licorice, and cinnamon. A bit of water improves the mouth feel and raises the sweetness a smidge. It's a great value.
This whisky really has changed my mind regarding rye.
On the nose there is bubblegum, grape, vanilla frosting, apricot, and ripe persimmon. The palate is creamy vanilla, juicy, cinnamon, and mint. The finish is pepper and ginger.
Overall, at $65CAD I think this is great value. It lacks complexity in my opinion, but the flavours of bubblegum and vanilla are very prominent and enjoyable. For the price, it's a wonderful addition to my whisky cabinet.
