General description
Doesn't quite hit the spot.
Nose
It's going to be spicy and there's not a lot else happens on the nose initially. Cask strength is fine, but it needs the concentrated flavours to come through. I could offer associated flavours of spice such as cinnamon or nutmeg, but that's as far as my charity goes.
Palate
Right... Spice again, then a heavy thump of pepper. And what else? At the back end, the good old green apples and vanilla. And..? That's it.
Finish
Long with a bit of vanilla and the apples return, but just at the beginning.
Once more the Spot whiskeys fail to do it for me. They are definitely loved by many, but this extremely narrow and sometimes unsubtle wrecking ball of flavours swinging at me just doesn't entice me to loving it. It's drinkable, but so far away from the Teelings, Redbreasts and Hinches in subtlety and depth of flavour. Not great.
