Maturation: Bourbon and Sherry Cask. From what I heard somewhere, this is about 8 y.o.
Different barrels lacks a little a clear profile. The overripe fruits bothers me a bit, but that tastes far more complex than it could. Full bodied but lacking smoothness - tongue burn comes on late but gradually fades. It’s also a bit rough around the edges, but not in a bad way. And a well-chosen ABV helps show some depth for sure certainly.
And I don’t know if it was the higher ABV (48% seemed just perfect for this one) or the beautiful balance but I really liked this whisky. I can add the Founder’s Reserve to the list of NAS whiskies done right. They deliver a good Scotch at a decent price.

honey, vanilla custard, green apple, spicy wood, hints of orange...

Palate

green apple, caramel, apricot, macaroons, raisins...

dry sherry, orange peel, raisins, slightly peppery...
